Enough, fix your %^#*ing sound

I'm so sick of listening to combat in one side of my headset. I'm sick of sounds cutting in and out. I'm sick of no music ever playing. I'm sick of NO ambient noise on Ilum.

The sound quality changes on higher level planets and music stops playing altogether. So you level 17 that is about to post saying how much you live the music and it plays all the time, save it, I was on Hutta too and I know.

My computer is currently producing 5 straight hours of non-musical enjoyment to post to YouTube. The only way I can make any noise on Ilum is to run or fire a blaster.

SWToR should have included a subscription to Pandora.

Yes the sound is completely messed up..

Ya know the most notable mess up for me?

When doing the Civil War Warzone (The one with the 3 capture points)...

Take the middle point and stand right in the center and listen to the gun...it cuts out so bad that you cant hardly hear it...

But yes, sound cuts out all the time...You can be in the middle of a fight with blasters going, music blaring and then suddenly everything goes quiet and stops working...

It doesn't matter where you are, what planet you are on, or what level you are....This happened in beta and its happening now...

Seems to be a pattern with Bioware.

In my home, there are three very different computers, three different people, three different speaker setups, various Sith and Republic planets, and it's pretty much everywhere. Music randomly stops, sometimes never starts, ambient sound vanishes on occasion.

I put in a bug report before release, and they sent me an email detailing how to update my video card drivers.

I'm assuming they're just copying Blizz on this, too, and will probably fix the issue in a few months, but only after telling is it's all our fault for a while.

Remember everyone, delete your *** and Interface folders!

Edit: lol @ Bioware for censoring dubya-tee-eff

My (!%$#^ sound is just fine. Are you sure your headset is fine? I've accidentally run over my cord with my chair before, damaging it. I've also seen some USB headsets have issues. I don't even bother with them anymore, just speakers now.

I agree with him, there is rarely any music that plays in the game, Coruscant really turned me off, long stretches of running to do, and NO MUSIC to atleast keep you awake.

Hell i thought wow was bad with their 30 seconds music bits playing in some parts. (thank god they had the loop music option) but this game has no music at all, and when it does play the music its very short lived.

I would love a fix to this as well BIOWARE so far the only way for me to LISTEN to the awesome music from this game is to go to the CHARACTER SELECT screen and stay idle for minutes there and listen.

I am not kidding it is the only place were you can actualy listen to any of the music in the game.

To those that say otherwise , please take the lightsaber out of your asses.

This game needs alot of fixing, and no im not quiting, but its very annoying.

No, I and friends had this problem last night on Coruscant. One friend complained that the music got really loud. My other friend and I noticed we had no music. I then began to notice that the music would cut in and out on occasion for no reason. Later all sound cut out completely. I thought I hit the mute button (no music, ambient, combat sounds, nothing). But, then the sound came back, only to cut out/in a couple of more times. Edited by Jaghatai_Khan

Other than the no music is certain places, I haven't had any of the other issues. I'm using a headset plugged directly into my speakers. I also play on occasion without my headset. No issues.

EDIT: I should add that I'm only level 14 at this point and haven't made it to some areas.

The only big sound thing I've noticed is the sound cutting out when you're riding a mount. Seems to work fine for a few seconds after you start moving, then no sound at all untill you dismount. Combat sounds also seem to go a bit funny when there's lots of stuff going on (blasters and lightsabers not always making noise etc). No offense, but I'm kinds hoping it's just you, becasue I'm about to start moving into the planets for the low 40s and I'd rather my sound stayed basically working :p

If these people who claim to have no troubles are actually not trolling, then I have to wonder if maybe sound only works correctly on very specific sound chips?

It has nothing to do with the speakers, that much is obvious because the sound effects themselves are always there. It's something to do with the way the game interfaces with the sound chip.

Maybe you few who have no problems all have the same sound card/chip?

Because my laptop, desktop, girlfriends desktop, girlfriends laptop with different sound codecs are having the same problem-it's obviously on my side.

Dang you are right man I had my headset turned all the way down

Something must be wrong on your end, I'm having no problems.

Most people who complain would do well if they checked their system first. There are a few sound glitches, like speeder sounds stopping or hearing NPC talking way after you left them in the dust. But they are minor. Cutting out sound maybe a result of the sound card, or corrupted sound files.

Run Repair on your game first, if that doesn't cure it look at your sound card.

Since the problem is located to just some people and not everyone it's pretty hard to locate/replicate the problem, if people in beta did what "free play" beta testers usually do, and just bug report "sound clipping, going quiet, fix it" without additional information about sound card/device, DXdiag file etc then it's nearly impossible to fix.

Only sound issues I have had is when traveling via taxi. The taxi sound only comes out the right side of my headset. Every other sound in game has been fine and I have no issues at all when using my 5.1 desktop speakers taxi or anywhere. I will agree though the music just seems way to random and the ambient volume is too low.

The OP is right. The lack of ambient and triggered music in a lot of areas is really noticeable to anyone who played SWG. That's one area SWG hit a home run on. Their atmospheric sound and music was off the charts, felt just like being in one of the movies.

I don't think this is a big problem though, just something that could use improvement in the future.
