Make SW PVP Viable - Suggestions

I have played melee classes in MMOs since DAOC, in WoW, WH and Rift and this has to be the worse balance I've seen between ranged and melee.

 

I have a lvl 50 Jug, I've been every spec, spent most of my creds remaking and remodding gear plus constat respeccing. The SW is inferior in PVP compaired to the ranged classes like the BH or the trooper.

 

First, the rage mechanic needs a proper look, I can't count the times I ended up rage starved vs an enemy after using up the rage i get from Force Charge + Saber Throw, followed by Enrage. Adjust the cost of some skills and the rage gain from others.

 

As for the skills we get, well, it seems like there are just so many buttons that are useless in PVP. Such as Savage Kick and Pommel Strike.

 

Here are a few suggestions for changing a few skills:

 

- Merge Smash and Chilling scream, Smash is vital to our rotation, to be able to slow a target we have to sacrifice one GCD and considering the above said, it costs us quite a bit.

 

- Make Pommel Strike a stun usable in PVP.

 

- Ravage needs a change badly. Remove the talents for it and allow players to cast it in full motion, it's a melee class after all, we are on the move most of the time.

 

- Give Force Pull back.

 

- Remove the Unstoppable talent from the Veng tree and make Force Charge have it's effects by default, charging into a chain CC is no fun.

 

The SW and JK are the only pure melee classes in this game and totally inferior next to the rest. They need tweaking badly.

I openly admit I'm not the best PvPer but I also tend to think I can judge a class based on it's future merit and not just my own skill. I personally get so frustrated with a Juggernaut in PvP that I rerolled another alt to replace it

 

For me, though, it's a mix of rage starvation and the massive, massive amount of CC that's out there. I'm finding the Juggernaut all but unplayable once a couple people get a lock on me (and yes, getting gangplowed by people is common)

Hope they get rid of the moronig resolve bar and replace it with a diminishing return effect. If you are melee you'll be eating all CC abilities from raged classes since most of them are short range and useless against the other raged who are about 30m away.

I took your advice and come to check this out. I'll comment as I see it. You may not agree with what I say but Its my opinion :)

As a Jug I get plenty of rage. I should also mention my preferred PvP Spec is Rage. Enrage always seems to come around when I need it. I tend to start with a charge > Choke > smash. enrage > vicious slash and possibly a sundering assault > force push > charge > scream... Something to that extent depending on the situation.

Completely agree here. These would be fantastic to use in PvP.

This is like Wows thunderclap and piercing howl. Im happy with it as it is.

 

- Make Pommel Strike a stun usable in PVP.

 

Agreed. Or make Back hand a shared Jug ability but spec for high threat in the Tanking tree.

 

- Ravage needs a change badly. Remove the talents for it and allow players to cast it in full motion, it's a melee class after all, we are on the move most of the time.

 

I don't use ravage unless its against someone who is casting onto someone else, or someone who has the slow effect on them. If they dont move out of 5M range, all 3 hits land on them for up to 2k each. (not always that high)

 

- Give Force Pull back.

 

I prefer push to be honest. Allows more control of who fights you. Also allows you to knock people out of LoS or interrupt healing and put them out of range.

 

- Remove the Unstoppable talent from the Veng tree and make Force Charge have it's effects by default, charging into a chain CC is no fun.

 

4 second immunity on every charge for all melee is a bit OP in my opinion. Would be nice... but chaining those 4 seconds up with a choke or a push or any form of defensive cool down... ontop of the resolve system, makes it a bit insane from what I can see.

 

The SW and JK are the only pure melee classes in this game and totally inferior next to the rest. They need tweaking badly.

 

Tweaks could be agreed upon, allowing more abilities. But again I wouldnt say it was bad personally. But again, thats my input.

Maurader is in the same boat.

 

 

Suffer very much from rage starvation. At least juggs can tank a little bit (not that it makes it anymore viable).

 

 

I mean, we have a snare, but it costs rage.. our inturupt costs rage and is on the gcd.. no CC's, all of our attacks that do any kinds of damage costs 3+ rage minus ravage..which is channeled...

I'm going to be frank and say you are most likely just bad at pvp here. Sith jug is currently the most OP class in the game, with inquiz right behind... i PLAY one and I know that. Both of them are pending a serious nerf so if you have QQing to do, save the forums some bandwidth dude.

Not trolling at all just sick of all the QQ "MY CLASS NEEDS THIS AND THAT" don't turn this into the Age of Conan US forums..

1 Make bases that can be captured and claimed. Mix this with the firefox space combat, and you cant get a really unique pvp experice.

 

2 Make world PVP count.

 

3 Make the higher end PVE instances in heavily contested PVP zones on pvp servers.

 

4 fix CC, no one pays to be locked down for 60 seconds. (I am a cc class)

 

5 Fix Healing or it wont matter what else you do, no pvp healers = no solid faction based pvp.

 

6. Daily PVP quests with rewards. Kill 10x, take 1 colony, defend one colony, etc... These need to have long term end game benefit rewards.

 

7 Allow us to take over on a temporary basis the other factions home base/world. Even if it resets after 10 mins and people get a title...

 

8. Player bounties I MEAN FFS you have a BOUNTY HUNTER class....

 

9 allow guild alliances some for of communication.

 

10 Put in xp bonuses for low factions to help balance server loads.

 

Just random ideas in 2 mins of thinking.

I'm not used to everyone class having CC. Normally it is just a few specialty classes that can stack the CC, like Rogues in Shadowbane, or a few healer types. Each class should have a different type of CC as well, stun, snare, root, blind etc. Each of those should be on it's own separate timer.

 

I know that CC has been talked about alot, but it not a fun experience to be locked all the time.

 

I play a melee oriented operative, and I do fine in warzones. However I rely on teammates quite a bit of the time. Melee needs a way to slow down the target or gain distance on them. Once that is accomplished build your CC for other classes.

I think reducing the damage of huttball obstacles would help. Having it so they aren't essentially insta kills if someone camps the acid and waits to pull someone into it, or stunning people on the fire when determination is down, is not very fun. Rewarding people for using the terrain is great, but again... they do so much damage it is essentially an instant kill once they pull you in or stun you in it.
