JurassicKing Posted July 12, 2018 Posted July 12, 2018 Every single time i try to log in it says the security key is wrong over and over. Sometimes I have to use multiple ones and even here it had issues. I know the problem lies in the security key because after submitting it over and over, it eventually works. So it is not because of invalid username/password. How can I fix this? it's incredibly irritating.

Depends: * If it's one of the original "hardware" keys, it may be suffering from impending battery flattery. Time to replace it. * If it's on your phone, make very sure that the phone has the right time and date (and, for preference, the right timezone. * If it's e.g. WinAuth on your PC, make very sure that the PC has the right date and time AND timezone, just as if it's a phone. The method used to calculate the keys includes the date and time, and so those must be scrupulously correct on the device that generates the keys.
JurassicKing Posted July 15, 2018 Author Posted July 15, 2018 It has the correct timezone and date. I use it on my mobile device. It used to work just fine; this has only become a problem in the past week or so.
JurassicKing Posted July 15, 2018 Author Posted July 15, 2018 It's doing it right now. Strange enough, hitting Enter over and over while the same code is up eventually gets it to work.
OwenBrooks Posted July 15, 2018 Posted July 15, 2018 (edited) The security key is based on RFC6238 https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6238 and so any app RFC6238 compliant can be used instead of the swtor app , eg google authenticator and winauth etc If it starts to get out of synch if say the time difference changes on the device, the code will still work but may only start at the point where the app is about to change it for example. if synching doesn't help, then detach the key and re-attach the key to the account is the first thing to do (directions at this link) Edited July 15, 2018 by OwenBrooks

JurassicKing Posted July 15, 2018 Author Posted July 15, 2018 My phone has always been 2 or 3 minutes fast but that's never been an issue

If your time is a bit off, the server can calculate a couple of previous or following keys and check those, but at a certain point it will stop doing so. Correcting the phone's clock should do the trick. Edited July 15, 2018 by Mubrak

Correcting the phone's clock should do the trick. Doing that actually had the opposite effect-I could not get in AT ALL. After changing it back to what it was before it worked first try. So i tried it again. First try.
