200 Kingpin Chips, 14 Gold Certificates, 0 Jackpots

Is it just me or is the RNG of the Nar Shaddaa event really messed up? This is not the first time I tried 200 Kingpin chips and had tons of those useless certificates and 0 jackpots.

At the moment I have 100+ Golden Certificates and nothing from the vendors that I want. Why is the Gamorrean Companion not available in those damn vendors. It truly is beyond me why they can't put it in there with all the other rewards. Especially if the RNG of the event is this rubbish.

I got my pig and the mount quite easily last time but I didn't want either of them, must the gold certificate to buy the gold mount.

I wish I could sell them.

Even that could be a solution. At the moment I have exactly 157 Golden Certificates and I am unable to spend them on anything, because the Gamorrean Companion is the only thing I want. But I have just spent yet another 200 Kingpin chips and had 1 jackpot, winning a useless and ugly mount. There should be no mount, the only jackpot should be the companion.

The Gamorrean Companion should simply be put in the vendors. Sure, charge be 100 golden certificates for it, but for the love of sanity this is driving me insane.

As has been discussed in related threads ad nauseum, the event is intended to be a credit sink. Even with the "Feeling Lucky" buff, your chance to win the companion is about 1/1000. I had probably gone through 500 Kingpin coins before I finally won mine.

I purchased one stack of 1000 green tokens. Total cost = 2M credits

Played them through, off and on, over a period of about 10 days.

36 certificates (about right)

4 mounts (about right)

3 companions (beat the odds here.. as normally I would get 2 of these for 1000 green tokens)

[Lost track of how many kingpin tokens, as it really does not matter in the end since they are not actually a reward, but rather leverage on the odds.]

About the same payout as last time I did the exact same thing with the event. So.. appears to working as intended.

Trying to play by just buying and using Kingpin chips is not only expensive, but you are denying yourself access to the benefits of the Feeling Lucky buff. If you are going to play the event this way... then stop complaining about your luck or lack of it. ;)

I spent 7 mil last year on green tokens and won some certificates, zero mounts, and zero companions. I stopped there because 7 mil would be the max I would pay for it if it was on the GTN. Maybe one day it will be up for certs. I'm not spending any more on it this year. I wanted to have it for the novelty but think it's a so-so companion.

RNG just being RNG. I accept that.

Last year I spent 25 mil on Green token's, and got 4 mounts 150 Certs, and 1 companion. This is definitely a credit sink, however with no new drops this year, i'm not sure how much they'll actually get people to spend this time around. I know I spent 0 this year, and have no plans on it.

Ah, yes, the standard "I want <x> and <y> sucks so get <y> out of the game and give me <x>" selfish garbage. Hey, just cuz *you* don't like something doesn't mean everyone feels the same way.

As companions go, the Bodyguard is one of the better ones. Unlike the CM companions, you can use him on crafting missions.

Um, what? If you're talking about healing/damage/tanking vs other companions then, meh, it's probably not much different.

Reasons why this companion actually blows:

- no story

- no conversations

- no name

- next to zero vocalizations

- is MALE* but wears FEMALE chest pieces (ie. you can see the bra where there's supposed to be an open chest area)

* We know he's MALE cuz he's unable to wear FEMALE clothing (ie. Republic Dancer). I've reported this bug a few times and still nothing.

I simply meant that the Cartel Market companions - the droids and animals - cannot be used for any crafting or scavenging missions. The Gamorrean Bodyguard can.

As for his story, you get his contract from winning the jackpot at the Nightlife Event. That's story enough for me. I could care less about missing a vapid 2 minute conversation like we get with many of the other add-on companions, like Darth Hexid. Nor do I care that he's named Gamorrean Bodyguard, because that's what he is; a big brute bodyguard. Who cares what his name is? The issue with his appearance can be annoying, but just find some armor that works for him like I did.

I'm sorry you're so disappointed with him, but there's plenty of players in this thread alone who would love to have him, flaws and all. Maybe you should be grateful you were lucky enough to get one instead of complaining that he's not named Don Juan, doesn't speak like Antonio Banderas, and is apparently having some gender identity issues.

To those who say I am complaining, I apologise if it comes across as that. Of course I am not mindlessly using only Kingpin chips but get the "feeling lucky" buff inbetween, perhaps I should have written that in the OP. However, that resulted me in constantly getting the Golden certificates of which I have 157 right now with only once or twice having gotten a jackpot that was the mount (and to me personally should be in the vendors instead of being a jackpot prize because the feeling of finally getting the jackpot and it's not the companion is insanely cumbersome). It frustrated and frustrates me that the companion isn't available as a direct purchase from the vendors for X amount of Golden certificates. I wouldn't even mind if it would be 100 of those, let the price be high, but I really have no use for the certificates at this point.

Don't mistake this for me simply complaining because I got unlucky, it's me trying to point out in frustration that the companion should also be available in the vendors for a high amount of Golden certificates.

You are not "unable" to spend them on anything, you are unwilling. That's not the same thing.

Hey, I feel like you were really lucky to get all those certificates like that. After spending a lot I have one mount (which I actually like a lot) and two golden certificates. It seems like those GCs are dropping a lot less than last year, or else my characters just haven't appeased the Casino Gods this year. :p Edited by IoNonSoEVero

The RNG, short for Random Number Goddess, is the supreme being who reigns over all moments of chance in a Role Playing Game. She determines all hits, dodges, critical hits, stat gains, and item drops, among other things. :D:D

She also knows what you want and when deigns to give you something, its always something 'other'

I simply meant that the Cartel Market companions - the droids and animals - cannot be used for any crafting or scavenging missions. The Gamorrean Bodyguard can.

While what you state is true in isolation .... most players have so many humanoid companions as it is... there is no shortage of companions to run crew missions these days. So in my view.. this is a weak reason to sink credits into a machine just to get another crafting companion. Even a level 1-10 new character, for a veteran, is likely to have 3 companions before they leave their starter planet (given the promotional humanoid companions given out over the last several years.... Nico... Shae....) and that is more than they can actually use. Not to mention, most veteran players will have a Treek and an HK sitting around gathering dust as well since it is a legacy perk they can draw upon.

You either like the novelty of this particular companion, and it's limited numbers (being behind a low percentage chance to drop), or you could care less. If you crave the companion for it's novelty... then a player is likely to grind the slots for it.

Probability is pretty straight forward.

Dulfy says that the odds of getting the companion are 0.07% without buff and 0.09% with. That might be wrong, but let's just go with it.

0.09% ~= 1/1111, so on average you'll get 1 reward every 1111 tries. Of course, since it is random, there is a chance you'll not get a reward with that many tries, or even twice that many tries. If you flip a quarter 5 times you "can" always get heads, but probably you'll get 2 of one and 3 of the other.

So, with 200 tries, even with the feeling lucky buff, the odds are actually against you getting a jackpot... There are plenty of people that will respond that they did get a jackpot in some small number of tries, but there should be an equal number of people that didn't get a jackpot and did over 1111 tries.

I guess you just have to decide if winning a pig is that important.

During the first casino event, I was hoping for the Rancor. I spent A LOT of credits and time on it and I was extremely frustrated. Eventually I gave up.

On the last day of the event, I said: I go there one last time. I bought a huge amount of coins and then played. Again, nothing.

I decided to buy a last round of 100 coins. Eventually I ran out out of those coins and I announced in the Nar Shaddaa chat that this is now my very last spin ever in this event and that I will go "all in" for the rancor. Friendly laughter occured in the chat.

And then I got it. With the last spin on the last day of the event. I linked it in chat and people couldn't believe it. But it was true. I went to bed very satisfied and happy that day.

Last year I got the piggy quite early.

This year they luckily just continue last year's event. I cannot even get the introduction mission from the fleet because I already did it last year.

I guess what I'm saying is: random number generator is random. Sometimes you lose and sometimes the others win.

That's crazy luck lol - good for you!!! That's the thing that sucks about gambling...you're always ONE spin away from hitting it big...

For that 1st event, one of my friends logged in, took his free coins (we got something like 20 free coins for the 1st event), went to the casino and won the rancor without spending a credit...I invested over 10 million into the 1st event (this is back when 10mil was a lot) and never even got close...

It's pure RNG, last even I won 5 speeders and 4 pigs, the event before that only a few golden certs. Welcome to the world of gambling.
