No M4-Y7 Astromech Droid?

So I've been subscribed to this game from the beginning, yet no M4-Y7 Astromech Droid?

 

I work Law Enforcement, so my play time is sporadic, but I always update my launcher for when I can play and keep my subscription paid up. I didn't log in by the 7th because the 8th was my wife's birthday.

 

How about retconning me this droid? I'd really appreciate it.

Unfortunately they have never done that. Because of the terms of the promo unless you logged in at least once to a character between May 1 - May 7 is the only way to receive the droid via in-game mail. They may offer it again possibly at a later time, have done that with other rewards

That droid was not a subscriber reward. Even f2p players could get it. You HAD to log in to get it.

its just a stupid little droid re-color skin, why do you want it that bad? there are literally dozens of them.

Personally, I don't think this useless droid is worth ruining your player experience over. Going Preferred is not the ideal way to play, especially if you've been subbed for so long.

Not needing your support a red herring, the crux of the matter is that Bioware clearly stated you had to log in during "X" time period to get the droid, you didn't meet the published standard so you didn't get the droid; end of story. It sucks to miss out on something that you want but unsubbing in a digital temper tantrum because you didn't get a pet that nobody ever uses is a bit silly if you truly enjoy the game.

^^ This. I have 8 of the same shaped droid in different colours. It would be like quitting law enforcement because of the colour of the hand-cuffs.

Not everything in this game is simply a subscriber reward. Which is why reading the promotional terms and conditions remains important if you care about the reward.

 

What is sad is that you cannot follow published requirements (published in advance) and want "special dispensation" from the studio.... or you will in effect "take your toys and go home in protest" (ie: downgrade your account to preferred in protest).

This was a particularly sad form of entitlement expression when you first posted it.. and even more sad in my view with your follow-up post.

 

All you had to do was take a few minutes to log in to the game if the droid was important to you... and then log back out. Certainly... you could find 5 minutes in the days leading up to the deadline to do so if it was important to you. Instead.. you play the "I'm in law enforcement" card and expect special consideration. {I bet you demand free coffee and donuts from all the local shops because "I'm in law enforcement" meme as well}.

 

And just so you understand.. I am very supportive of the tough job that law enforcement officers sign up for... but I am equally supportive of the tough job that working parents have managing their busy work schedules while trying to balance all the needs of their children at the same time.

 

Next time.. follow the rules of the promotion and stop acting like you have special status because you claim to be in "law enforcement". One would think that a law enforcement officer would be all about following rules and understanding the consequences of not doing so.

Bioware needs to change their metrics centered policies unless they value that more than money.

 

I have been mercy subbing for the last couple of years supporting this game when I rarely log in anymore, that's how I missed the memo.

 

Maybe they could add a "Mercy Subscription" for those that have supported them from the beginning.

 

For those not white knighting, I appreciate your input. My latest toon I've been just using whatever I get for drops, just appreciating the stories. I have all the stuff I've unlocked on a high level toon. I never pvp.

Nearly every MMO I've played has, on occasion, had log in rewards that were independent of subscription status. It is far from unusual for a special date to be commemorated with a log in reward.

 

Now I haven't played STO since it was new, so my question is genuine. Were the rewards for the 8th anniversary event available after the event was over? It sounds like you had to log in and do the anniversary event during one finite month to get the anniversary rewards.

I call BS on that. There were plenty time-limited rewards in STO, and if you missed and didn't log in on a given day, you missed the rewards. So unless you log in every single day anyway, there is a chance you missed something, or you kept an eye on all promotions to make sure you didn't. It has nothing to do with the sub status.

 

Go to the STO forum and see that there are topics there similar to this one. Recently most commonly question asked "will you give away DSC uniforms again?" They were time limited. They weren't only for subs. Very much like the droid in question. Only a lot more useful and unique
