Mdgshorty
I know this idea is probably going to be shut down, but its just an idea. Many people have asked for SWTOR tokens but there has been no viable way of doing it so far. No matter what we do, someone finds a loophole and game the system. The idea I have involves the cartel market but another currency for the cartel market, but the only way to earn this currency is to play the game. There will be no selling these tokens on the GTN also. I was thinking that we can use lightside/Darkside tokens and command tokens for this. I was thinking we could have a vendor on fleet that we can convert some of the tokens into the new currency which will be accountwide. In turn you will have to go to the cartel market and find the tab that uses these tokens and there will be rewards to pick from that you can choose. Ideas of rewards are: 3 Day Subscription Pass7 Day Subscription Pass30 Day Subscription Pass The passes will not have cartel coins included though. You will have to buy that separately, but you will get all the benefits of a subscription. They could even go farther and add other rewards into the system like cartel coins and other fun items. The point here is the only way to get these things is if you earn it yourself so that means play the game. The price value of the items would probably fluctuate due to how fast people are able to earn these tokens. So that means that the quicker people are able to get to the value, the higher the price can be to earn some of the rewards.
SteveTheCynic
The weakness in that is that only subscribers can earn Command Tokens and Light/Dark tokens (why? see below), so this is a thing that allows subscribers to earn subscription time by playing during their subscription, thus reducing the income earned from subscribers. Command and Light/Dark tokens are dropped from Command Crates, approximately, and those can only be earned by people who can gain Command Experience, and that means "subscribers". Eoinol
I would add that the game requires REAL money to stay alive and if you can get subscription benefits without spending real money, end of game.
Swartsin
Another idea would be to create a Subscription Token only sold on the GTM by use of Cartel Coins, with a 2 day cool down before it can be given/traded to others. This way we would actually be able to buy subscription time for our close friends, as I've personally wanted to do many times since game launch, for Christmas or Birthdays. Of course many would use it to earn credits from the GTN, as with all other tokens/items from the GTM purchasable by Cartel Coins, but it could result in more steady subscribers in the end, as the game is most fun when subscribing and people won't truly feel that until they've tried it. A 30 Day Subscription Token for a high Cartel Coin price shouldn't be impossible to create, though it might be difficult to implement as the Subscription could then be activated/prolonged in-game and so far it has only been an Off-game thing. It would depend very, very strongly on whether it is feasible to gather enough CCs during a month (e.g. from referral grants etc.) to buy it without spending money. The price can't realistically be more than about 1500CCs, maybe 2000 or it becomes easier to just buy a subscription, but if it is only that much, then if I have 15 referred friends (or 14 and a security key), then I don't have to pay for a subscription. No, I think that no matter how the token can be sold, gifted, etc. to other players, it MUST be a direct money purchase or some people will game the system and play as full subscribers without *anybody* paying.
