Special MOD/ENHANCEMENT Vendor

For better build customization and min-maxing stats, I would like BW please bring back the vendor who sells these special mods and enhancements.

If you recall, back in the days when PvP gear had expertise, we have a fleet vendor selling a variation of mods and enhancements like lethal mods A and B and so on. An example is this accuracy enhancement:

Proficient Enhancement (a variant of the traditional Initiative Enhancment) -- http://i65.tinypic.com/vs2i5t.jpg

Initiative Enhancement -- http://i65.tinypic.com/34rx26u.jpg

As you can see, they both have the same Accuracy stat but differ in Endurance and Power values.

The list goes on from variants of crit enhancements, alacrity enhancements, and ofcourse mods. To be consistent with in-game currencies, they should be bought with unassembled components. The vendor will only sell the legendary tier (248's) items. With these, you can stack on certain stats to suit your specific build.

Well... since 4.0... they in fact have a great and diverse selection of mods and enhancements for leveling. They are green, but actually stat wise are more like the old classic blue vendor mods.. but with more variety.

Whereas.... when you hit level cap.... this is, broadly speaking, the realm of crafters.. and I would not agree that the crafter sourced market should be undermined by a vendor... no matter what the currency is. Now.. if you are a loner with no guild and not friends and no crafting skills of your own.. you of course don't like this answer. On the other hand.. if you are part of a guild that actually cooperates together to help everyone gear up... this is really a non-issue. Same goes for a circle of friends who work together to help each other gear.

That said.. I don't see real harm in allowing players to gain mods and enhancements via UCs... but then again.. you have the same indirect access to them as anyone who pops a GC crate and gets a drop with mods and enhancements in them so a vendor is simply a way for people to short cut the multiple existing mechanisms to gain said mods in game currently.

Fantastic idea! +1

Agreed +1

Lovely indeed! Thanks!

This was asked for before and it fell on deaf ears. Good idea anyway.

Good to know, thanks for the info.

Noted.

GC drops however are very scarce and too random, thus unpredictable. Drop rate is extremely low (based on my experience), and if you get one, it's usually not what you want or need.

Obtaining these items may not be limited to just using unassembled components if there can be a good alternative. Perhaps they can be crafted too or acquired by other means.

To be clear, this should only be for 248s, which is what the OP calls for. I say that as a crafter. And yes, the point is to shortcut the "multiple existing mechanisms", again only for 248s, for those who are min-maxers and tweakers - of course at a cost of UCs...

+1 definitely! And, because the vendor would only be providing 248 level gear, it won't harm crafters (as they cannot craft 248 levels anyway). It should also include the B variant of each mod (lethal and warding). You may have mentioned that already, but it should.

Thanks!

Thanks! And yes, it definitely includes everything especially those B mod variants. The whole 9!

Great idea. One suggestion; have this vendor sell BiS Augments too. Let us trade our tokens or UC's for the best augments instead of having to craft them.

If you could reliably get all the schematics all at once it would be a great help. But you can’t and then you need to rely on people gouging the market with over inflated prices.

Maybe what they could do is add a vendor that sells all the schematics for all enhancements and mods below 246. But also sell the actual 248 enhancements and Mods directly.

Also adding some of those lvl 10 materials to the Jawa vendors would help. At the moment I’ve got so many and they are worthless to craft end game items. Honestly, why do they even drop in crates if you can’t use them for stuff you need.

Well, that's not exactly how that'd work though, is it? If people could buy 248 b-mods with UC, there would be no demand for the crafted 246 b-mods anymore (which are still kind of BiS right now for tanks, because of how rarely the 248 version drops from crates). Because why would I pay 500k-1kk credits (or more, I'm not up to date on the prices) when I could buy a better version for UC, of which I have like 11k lying around?

Don't get me wrong, I'd absolutly love to see such a vendor and I definitly support the idea, but crafters would indeed get the short stick on that one (not that that's a problem for me :p)

You know, if they were to limit this to GC level 300 only, that might limit the impact on crafters. Just a thought.

Thanks. I would like to know what BW thinks of this..

Yes. I'd love to have this again. I would min/max immediately. +1000!

We are in agreement. It's a refreshing change of pace. I appreciate your support.

Definitely not. Craft or buy them like the rest of us. Crafting is a source of cred income for a majority of the people.

  • 4 weeks later...

I'm still optimistic they can make room for this little addition to the upcoming changes coming 6.0.

I supported the cross faction idea way way back when I started playing. I'm psyched that it will come to fruition along with the other changes planned for Swtor.
