New sentinel what is the best spec to level up?

I'm returning to the game and SO much has changed since I last played. I'm talking vanilla game, got a couple of 60's and quit prior to Hutt. So I'm back and I want to play through all the stories I never got to, I figured I'd try a sentinel for the Jedi story and eventually I'll do the Juggernaut for the sith side. But when it comes to sentinels what is the best overall spec to level in, I'm starting from scratch and not boosting by the way if that matters. Thanks in advance.

Combat is the easiest one and the best choice for leveling. It doesn't involve or require a ton of abilities to perform well and cause quick death to all sorts of opponents. Your second option would be Concentration, but it starts to shine at later (higher) levels.

I'd say combat as well.

Mostly, to be really efficient the other 2 spec requires some abilities or utilities that comes really later into the tree.

Combat's mostly about taking the basic moves of the sent and making them better.

So it start feeling pretty good right away, even if still pretty basic.

Definitely stay off Watchmen till 42 I'd say. Dont see how you can have any fun with that spec with no MS and no overload saber lol. Also, most of the early tree is setting up efficient DoT effects, but you only get ONE dot till 26, and you don't get your best DoT till 58. So its like someone talking to you about how great your job is going to be, 10 years from now, but then giving you a mop and a plundger for the today's task.

Concentration is a bit like combat, I'd guess. I never tried it leveling on Sent/Mara, but I did use on on jug at one point, and it felt clunky until the mid-30s, I went back to vengeance instead. But still, concentration early on works around making the basic better, so its not a bad leveling spec to use. Good mobility and the 4-10m (mid range) is actually something Concentration can work in better, so can be useful for some separated ranged mobs that have snares (if I recall well, you encounter a few on Coruscant).

Mostly I'd say the choice between using concentration or combat should be based on which you prefer to use endgame to get used to it better. If you plan on watchmen, then use either up to level 42, then switch to watchmen only then :p

Watchman was decent before all the all the 4.0 and up class changes... I could pound mine against others now on the lame side and changed to Combat...

Watchmen's progression is unique in the fact its based around abilities that used to be baseline, so you'd get the nice stuff earlier.

Now, they change the ressource gen to a new dot, which they are pretty much forced to give you right away, and another rather basic DoT got removed for the other 2 spec, so your 2nd ability has to go to it.

That means you get the spec's "nice stuff" at 42+.

Meanwhile, a lot of other classes get at lvl 10 and 26 abilities they couldnt even dream of touching before lvl 40 in the old skil trees, since otherwise it would have allowed hybrid with those abilities. Even more, a lot of them have abilities simpy "replacing" one for slightly better damage, but the rotation still worked before. Not so much for watchmen. Gotta wait till the end for your best damage dealing ability.
