Lhancelot
I read all this stuff about how awful it is for melee etc., but so far since hitting lvl 41 and entering mids I see nothing but packs of melee that utterly obliterate ranged. Especially maras, juggs, guardians, sents, and sins. They seem almost always impervious to knockbacks, they hit for 32-33k regularly and within a span of 6 secs I blow up when 2-3 of them are on me. Is this the norm for 70s pvp also for snipers or is there some imbalance when it comes to the lower lvls melee versus snipers? I am not seeing vast numbers of mercs destroying everything, I only see tons of juggs and marauders with a nice peppering of sins that are most popular and extremely hard to deal with so far. Yes, I am venting but I also want to know if their burst and overall impossibility to kite disappears or diminishes at 70. Maybe once I get roll it will help. Also, another thing I notice is my ambush hits for crap. If i manage to get a 30k ambush I am lucky now, since hitting 41+ while in lowbies I was landing 40k regularly. This is annoying when I see juggs and guardians throwing 33k blows on me non-stop. Edited January 10, 2017 by Lhancelot
Metthew
You should say goodbye to your 40k ambushes. You'll mostly see 32k-ish in ranked at level 70, unless you are lucky and see someone with low level armorings or something. Kiting gets much better after you get roll, but the class only becomes spectacular once you get DCD reset and heals on both roll and Ballistic Dampeners. Even then, good marauders and sins you will not be able to 1v2+ unless you have massive terrain advantage (in which case they should not engage you and just LOS you anyways). Make sure to only unplant when you cannot be jumped, stay planted when they have hardstun available and are next to you, and replant immediately if you see low slash immediately or you get jumped while out of cover. That being said, I am pretty sure that MM and Engineering, depending on the class you face, are the best dueling specs in this game, so you should be able to 1v1 anything. You can use root + cover pulse + re-establish range is enough to make a single melee basically unable to touch you (except Fury Marauders). Will just guage it as I lvl up. it's so annoying running into literally 5-6 melee a match and getting utterly obliterated though. Finally had a match with a 65 sorc healer, and it was a tad more bearable. I guess my earlier matches have had zero heals too, only adding to the frustration. verfallen
1vs1 you should have no issues trashing a marauder or a jug. Smart assassins will be harder, has your main weakness is being exposed from cover by stuns when your entrench end, and they are pretty good at that. You have good tools to kite and stun right back, and follow up your burst, as they cannot facetank you as much as a warrior does. But sniper has as many tools to keep its range as melee do to make them lose it. Overall. Don't expect facemelting 46k ambushes and 10k tick of penetrating blast anymore tough, those definitely won't happen in 70s. But you are still plenty dangerous if played right, and hard to pin down. 2 of the main survivability utilities come in legendary tier too, that makes a big difference at your durability.
