It doesn't have to be a lot, but something other than simply giving them a billion gifts would be a refreshing change of pace. Given that a companion tops out at level 50, which is really high, and that our affection progress isn't shared across legacy not to mention the sheer number of companions available to the player, it's insane how slow the affection leveling process is.
