Break free of your conditioning - gearing, OPs, ...

people always complain about lack of new content but what content could BW possibly make that is fun to repeat after first play through (if taken by its own value without any rewards)? all the FPs and OPS play all the same to me.

Operations. I've been running KP at least once every other week for 5+ years now and I STILL enjoy it. It may play the same to you, but I run with PuGs, guild, new players, vet players, returning players...whatever. The human element is what changes each and every time...just like in PvP.

I can only answer for myself, but I do it because I enjoy doing the OTHER things in game that require me to have better gear. PvP requires it, higher end PvE requires it. I do it because that's the ONLY way to gear myself right now to do the things I DO enjoy.

Ditto. Grinding GC isn't the fun part, but helps to get gear for the content I do enjoy.

So, aside from PvP, which parts of SWTOR that have been introduced over the last five years offered exceptional replay value?

That's just it. Even the Rishi Arena and the Odessen proving ground are getting on for a year old now.

My point is, if you log in to a game (pick any game), and it isn't your very first time doing so, then you are implicitly saying that you find spending your time in that game satisfying, or more correctly, more satisfying than doing any alternative. Thus, my assertion is that by seeing people in the game, they are satisfied, or else why log in?

You might say that you log in only to speak with your friends, which is to say that the game provides you a means to speak with your friends, and thus an enjoyable application. You could just join a chat room, but instead you log into the game.

I see people gaining CXP and getting crates. Why do it if you don't enjoy it? Or do you do it simply because you enjoy complaining about it, so the gaining of crates gives you the satisfaction of complaining? Thus, in my mind (and likely the developers of SWTOR), those who log in enjoy the game. The only metric that they would see about people not enjoying it would be people who likely answered their survey in a negative AND followed up with cancelling their subscription AND/OR not logging into the game anymore.

I believe that the only people who are unsatisfied are those who don't log in and have quit, because by definition they have found something else better to do with their time. Using that metric, it could be dangerous because if you saw a lot of dissatisfied people (by not seeing them), the developers would perhaps change course like they did back in 1.2. Of course, I say it's dangerous because you hope that those dissatisfied people come back, which is a bit questionable.

One other way to think about it. What do you think is easier for the developers to measure: How many actual people are complaining on this forum, or how many paying customers are logging into the game? What if the developers assume, like I do, that everyone who logs into the game must have some level of satisfaction with the game? Hence, the only real form of protest against the system is to quit. Which is why every time i see someone whining and complaining about the system, I suggest they quit.

I come here to criticize to try and get them to change course because I used to like this game. All the stuff that is in there now is stuff I used to enjoy. Problem is it's the same stuff for the past few years and I've grown tired of it. As have many of my in game friends who are either stopping playing and moving to other games or just not logging in much anymore.

Myself, I'm not logging in regularly anymore. Went almost two weeks without logging in.

I want to play a SW MMO not another game. I want this game to go back to the "4 pillars" they touted and stop being lazy. I think Ben is steering this game the wrong way and using a flawed metric system they created to base his decisions on.

I have cancelled my recurring subscription and will being a preferred before their 5.1 release and next livestream to talk about future of group content. If I like what they implement and the roadmap they lay out, I'll sub again. If not, I won't. But as long as I have access to this forum until I run out of my sub and the forum resets, I'll make my opinion known.

Being able to get gear from doing whatever activity you wish to do in game is a good idea. If you like pvp, then pvp. If you like OP's, the raid it up. If you like story and completing easier content, then great. However, the RNG stuff needs to go.

We need to figure out a system that rewards players for their time. The legacy gear system is fantastic. I've never seen a system quite like it. It is what drew me to SWTOR in the first place a few years ago. Now, I just want to leave. Well over 150 boxes and I still don't have half of the 230 ****. I get it. Make people sub to get gear then make that gear so time consuming to maintain that you have to spend an ungodly amount of time in game to get it. It's sound strategy and shows EA's hand.

People who don't raid don't know the sense of accomplishment that one feels when their group finally downs that boss they have been working at for hours or days. I was recently told that spending several days claiming all the datacrons was a waste of time as I fell behind in the cxp grind. Seriously? Do you know the frustration I felt when I would fall when I was so close? The joy I felt when I claimed that last Rakatan Cube on Belsavis and unlocked a seemingly meaningless Matrix Shard is indescribable. Fulfilling a goal that you have been working so hard toward (and believe me, not every one has great platforming skills) is a cornerstone of gaming.

Why pick up and play a game if you're not gonna beat it?

At the end of the day though, play the game you want to play, how you want to play it.

Exactly. Although my sub runs out on Feb, a week or so after the next scheduled stream.

I'm already spending time in another game leveling, with my wife and a friend. It's been way more fun that 4.0 or 5.0 was here. Not sure how it will be for end-game, but we'll see.

The healer I've been playing is wearing easily-obtainable crafted 228 purples.

You are doing better than me. My main which is a healer. I leveled her as a healer at launch, she has never been any other spec, well she is still level 65 and likely never to change. Can't see the need to play healer any longer since there is no group content to play her in. So I just saw story with a couple dps.

I don't know. I think the RNG system in GC would be fine for casual players, those that would normally not engage in group content and do not generally pursue the upper tier of gear. Though those casuals lost something when they removed gear from the vendors (an unwise move IMO, they should have been kept in place with a credit cost) they gained something by getting occasional gear and candy with this system engaging in normal casual activities.

I do think it is a flawed mechanic for providing gear for hardcore players however.

If you want healer love, try PvP. If you've never PvPed it's more fun and more easily accessible than you think.

Thanks, I needed the laugh today.

Focusing and tunneling is a kind of love!

Seriously though - healers always get MVP votes. I mean, the worst guy on the team usually does too, but the healer ones are presumably genuine.
