So I've been doing a "Dark" Jedi run. She isn't really dark, but she thinks objectively and values protecting the Republic over being compassionate. Basically, she'd complete the objective at all costs.

When I got the part of the quest line where I'm tasked with saving the Hawkeyes or completing the objective, my character automatically chooses to save the Hawkeyes, which goes completely against everything I've done up to this point. What's weird is that I could've sworn that I had to choose which route I wanted to go. Why is it automatic now? Is this just more BioWare incompetence or am I doing something wrong?

I did this mission yesterday and did find it jarring I could not choose the outcome, i have not done that mission many times before and could not remember if it was changed, I 'assumed' it auto picked based on my alignment but i guess i was wrong about that.

It has changed.

You used to have the choice now you do not.

However you do not lose or gain any points from it so it has no meaning now.

Well at least I know I'm not crazy. This couldn't have been intentional. That would be incredibly idiotic and nonsensical, even by BioWare standards.

If memory serves, it is was changed in 4.0 years when they "trimmed" many quests.

They did a lot of wrong things for 4.0 ... They even removed some buildings or rooms within buildings because they thought that players wouldn't want to run through buildings too much. Sometimes, they even moved Quest Givers to new places ( happened specifically with the Senate Building of Coruscant ).

Cynically put, they thought that streamlining was more important than originality.

It's the same with cars now : All do look like the same.
