Here are my 2 updated for Patch 5.0 Guides on COMBAT and CARNAGE. They follow the structure of the previous one from last year, but include all the changes to stats, gearing, ability priorities and utilities.

 

The guides include:

 

  • Intro and basic overview of the spec
  • Stats priorities and gearing tips for EndGame
  • Abilities and Priorities (includes opener, rotation and utilities)
  • Conclusion and Thanks

 

What they are: A guide to help you learn the discipline and its perks

What they are not: A dummy bashing tutorial

The Utilities detailed video overviews will be released in the next few days, along with a few more updates and tweaks to the structure and contents of the guides. If you find any typos, mistakes or I have forgotten something, let me know and I'll do my best to fix it ASAP.

 

Hayete created their own Combat and Carnage guides. They are also very detailed and interesting to look at. It's always good to have more than once source of information :)

Yet another Carnage pve guide. Nobody cares about pvp anymore it seems.

 

A little rude don't you think? It would seem you have little understanding of the work and effort that go into making a guide. If you're so unhappy with what's been done for the PvP community then how about you step up, take the lead, and write one.

With the way combat works atm almost any guide works for both pvp and pve. There may be a set rotation that you can use on dummy but both in actual bosses and pvp you will always follow the priority list for Precision windows. Gearing is also more similar now more than ever with the removal of expertise, in BIS gear you will simply want to lower accuracy to 105% for pvp and possibly throw it into mastery/power. Utilities are possibly what are going to differ the most but even those change a lot between boss fights and even pvp maps. Vulkk does have a utility section highlighting different needs (mobility vs defense) which is a more practical way than going over every map/boss and telling you what utilities to use.

Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad the guide(s) is(are) so well accepted. The general feedback and interest inspired me to write one for my next favorite class - Gunnery Commando / Arsenal Mercenary :)

 

And a special gratitude to Hayete, who very well knows how much time and effort it costs to write these "articles".

 

As for Utilities - since I don't play much PvP on my sentinels and marauders in 5.0, I didn't offer a build. Specific build would only really matter in ranked (if at all). I made a video guide, which is embedded into the written guide, linked in the opening post. Inside I talk in more details about which Utility is good for, where and when.
