Lynnx
I've been thinking about which is better. I used to believe that large servers were better because the GF pops faster on FPs. Now that FP loot has been reduced, I see less reason for FPs. Now, I rely more heavily on Heroics for gear. With smaller servers, there are fewer people to compete for mission objectives. Which do you prefer?
LyndaeshaFreykaa
I just finished moving my legacy to TRE yesterday. I'm very, very fond of my old server (started there at launch), but this game feels so much better with more players around. I definitely prefer the more populated ones. Riven
Having been in the position to have all of my mains on very low pop servers twice now. First time on my original server Basilisk Droid, and now on ToFN, which is deserted as can be, I would say large populated servers any day! Solo is nice and dandy, but it's ulimately a very lonely experience. You do the story, grind heroics, but what for? There are no FPs pops ever, no point even looking for OPs and even though I've not tried it in a long time, I doubt PvP fares any better. It just sucks any fun out of the game. If you want to enjoy the game, NEVER pick a "small" (aka dying/dead) server and if you are not tied down leave for a high population server ASAP. No server is that populated or spawn rates that slow that it's worth dealing with all the negatives that it brings. Andryah
Middle ground for me. Harbinger is too big, with too many ongoing issues. Begeren Colony saw a mass migration off during the low cost transfers, so too small. Ebon Hawk.... is just right.
MadDutchman
I would love the desolate servers if it wasn't also for the desolate GTNs So I prefer the middle ground as well, which for me is Shadowlands.

Same for me. I have 1 toon on Harbinger because I have a few RL friends who are on that server, but they rarely play. I find Shadowlands to be a very nice happy-medium. Aeneas_Falco
More populated servers are always better. If you're in the mood to play the game without seeing another person, or just want to avoid competing for quest objectives, switch to a PVP instance. You practically never see another person in a PVP instance on the PVE servers. Edited December 21, 2016 by Aeneas_Falco
lobstah_rofls
Best of both worlds is a cross server duty finder like FFXIV has. I'd much rather play SWTOR based on its content, but FFXIV has a cross server duty finder, so you can actually play all the group content, even raids, without even bothering with weird guilds or elitist server cliques like you have to in SWTOR. Of all the things that FFXIV did right with the A Realm Reborn relaunch, the cross server duty finder tops the list. Pugs are great because pugs are always doing the group content, and the incentives make sure that good players keep doing old content at a reasonable rate. Whereas in SWTOR, only the desperate use the group finder so it's pretty bad on the whole. Once you experience how awesome it is to play a game like this while being able to get a que pop at any time, you will never want it to work any other way. Like for example I completely refuse to ever do a FP with 4 dps again and don't give me that BS about kolto stations, group after group screws it up by using them up too early. That and everyone is just running around bashing stuff so why not just make it solo mode? I mean it's either content altered to not require coordination so it's dumb or it does require coordination and it gets messy because people are expecting to just bash through. I mean what a bunch of crap.
psandak
While I do play solo a lot, I enjoy gaming more when there are people playing around me. Whenever I play a single player game, I always find myself bored very quickly. So, given the choice I want a large pop server.
Neshira
Bigger servers for the GTN and if you wanna do a lot of group content. Smaller servers for the lack of other people running around so I can do my story in peace and delude myself into thinking it's a single player game with a chat box...at least until KOTFE in which it really does become a single player game with a chat box. Honestly nowadays since I've been doing more group stuff I'd prefer a middle ground. Harby is just too busy for me but a midline server with a decently active market...that would be great. Kerraii
Wouldn't a high Pop server be best in any matter? Players there is you want to find a group or solo and skip any players. Seems a low pop server is of no use at all, middle ground seems ok but again no one available should you want a group for some operation or group adventure should you want to do one. DreadtechSavant
Low pop servers. I have toons on every server but on ToFN the most. one of the best for solo players.

No. If there were only high pop server's I doubt I'd stay. It's just not fun to play on them for several reasons which have all been mentioned in countless other threads. jimmorrisson
In terms of size: 1. Harbinger (Literally 24/7) 2. Ebon Hawk (Role Play, active until early morning East Coast time) 3. Shadowlands : Jedi Covenant (populaiton tie, only active Eastc Coast afternoons and evenings) In terms of server "personality" Harbinger and Shadowlands are similar, Ebon Hawk and Jedi Covenant are somewhat similar, the difference being Jedi Covenant being non role play. AlrikFassbauer
Small servers usually have less General Chat "trash talk" , I guess. I mean, no-one cares about it anymore. For more introvert people, small servers are also more helpful. From this point of view - I'm happy on my server.
