Why even grind for gear ? Applies both PVE and PVP with the new scaling and bolster ?

So with the scaling mechanics that scales flashpoints, story Ops, Heroics and the bolster in PVP that (see the bolster thread in PVP forum? means old 4.0 KOTFE 208 gear is better until full 230 purples or even beyond.

Then why even grind for new gear ? for NM mode of year old OPS (that we have done ad nauceum) ? to have a perceived 2 to 4 % advantage in PVP after spending month and 100s of hours to grind CXP ?

If you answer that the 230 gear and beyond is MUCH better than the scaling of older lower gear then pleas supply with hard facts from in game testing and not "duh its higher rating dohh" since the PVE scaling and PVP bolster is what it is in SWTOR.

To clarify ! With the new PVE scaling and the existing PVP bolster, why even grind gear at all when only place it really matters is non story mode OPS (it seams ALL other part of the game both PVE and PVP is scaled or bolstered to a point that gear is almost meaningless) Gear in SWTOR is now largely Epeen only ? with no real advantage in game ?

Thank You for your time and opinion

Because we need to work towards something.

Its the only progression we have left in the game.

I have done all ops, fps, wzs, uprisings, heroics, story, gsf. Theres nothing left but cheevo hunting and gear progression.

SO ther is no use for new gear AT all except epeen "look at me" effect ? :-(

Well you mentioned the advantage. 2 to 4% advantage.

Whilst that advantage is there then theres always the reason.

Plus if you do HM or NiM bolster does not exist. So gear higher then last xpacs 224 rating is an advantage.

Shall we continue?

as i said please stay to researched in game proven facts please.

the 2 to 4 % is a number i pulled out my a..... which then proves my point :-)

So again all this mid numbing RNG CXP grind (not to speak of alts) is only advantegous for HM or Nim OPS those 2 modes only in entire game..... i guess i have just realised how bad this game has become :-(

Here is the thread from the PvP forums on how stuff scales with bolster.

On top of all of this though is that bolster does not take the place of gear. If a person runs into a story mode OP with 0% accuracy, bolster is not going to give them the 109-110 that they need. Nor is it going to give you the crit or alacrity.

Same thing happens with tanking stats. While the gear you are wearing will get scaled up some, it would by no means be optimal and relying on bolster to cover someone's laziness in gearing is not the right answer.

228 crafted mods and full augments, tuned for appropriate stats for your class and discipline ..... better then random GC drops from GC. Pretty easy to do too.

I really don't see the value in GC drop gear, even set bonus, until Tier 3... and that's way up in GC levels for it to even start dropping. It's down to diminishing returns...... for the Tier 1 and Tier 2 vs what you can craft right out the gate.
