Hey there. Returning player here, need help with my Patch 5.0 Juggernaut.

Hi all.

I played long ago (3.0 I believe it was) but quit because of personal reasons. I have returned to the game now because I am mainly interested in the SWTOR and KotFE stories. I have rolled a Juggernaut (darkside4lyf) and I'm wondering how best to spec my character with Patch 5.0.

Now, according to the descriptions in game:

1) Immortal: The classic damage sponge tank speaks to me and my favourite playstyle.

2) Vengeance: Appealing middle of the road between the classic tank and damage output.

3) Rage: Straight up DPS with high mobility.

Now I want something with a good amout of survivability but can BLAZE through fights as fast as humanly possible.

This is mainly due to my heavy investment in the story, I'm interested in very little else. Maybe fashion: I'd want to deck my Juggernaut out in the most sick looking gear possible but that's a minor thing.

I'm afraid that with the Immortal, fights will become longer and more drawn out, so I want to go with DPS/Tank. What's the highest DPS in 5.0? Rage? If so, is he also (almost) as survivable as an Immortal?

TL;DR: Want reasonably high survivability with as much DPS and ultra-quick AoE trash mob wipe as possible. How should I spec?

Thanks, folks.

To blaze through as fast as possible, Immortal will not be a viable option. I've been rolling this for survivability as DPS Jugg defenses are wanting with this patch. You'll stick around but you won't hit a home run either. My jugg has evolved into more of a utility player and situational. I pull numbers across categories.

From your description, I'd probably look at rolling Rage, but juggs are not all that bursty anymore. I will say this update does a nice job at making players really learn the in's-and-out's of the classes for them to be played right.

I see. Should I reroll a Marauder then?

I was keeping PVP at the front of my mind... Doy... :D

My jugg has been doing solo flashpoints in Immortal just fine and I think the other specs are still very PVE reliable. I'm still working kinks out as far as PVP goes, but a Mara sounds like it might be what you are looking for in a PVP setting

If you just want to play story and don't go for vet mode, it doesn't matter what you play. Fights are so easy it's laughable.

For a quick playthrough, get yourself dps equipment with a shield as offhand and spec immortal. It's almost as good dps as rage or veng, but more survivablity(which you don't need in story mode chapters).

As already said, in story mode, you can do whatever you want and cruise pretty easily. And if you're concerned about speed, set your companion to DPS, get their influence up and watch mobs melt in story mode.

For me, I love Vengeance and will use a healing comp, so there is no downtime between fights to heal up. Seems to go very quickly if I want it to.

On my DPS toons that have healing abilities (Sorc and Operative), I'll set my comp to tank and mow through mobs as well.

For PVP, though, Juggs are struggling a bit. You can still pull decent numbers with the dot spreading and help with protection and objectives, but actually killing folks feels more difficult than it used to. Might just be all the new DCDs and heals every other class got in this patch.

Back in 3.0 and 4.0 Jugg vengeance especially was destroying ppl left and right in 1v1s , 1vX, this patch it's cr4pastic , extremely weak class atm , sorc is weaker too since everyone got so many more defensives you just can't 1v1 anyone on it.
