For the last several days I’ve found it difficult to be excited about playing this game. I’ve logged in, I’ve done the grind to get 17 toons from 65 to 70 spread across two servers since the expansion hit. I’ve only taken one of them through the story.

On one server I have my own guild and am 100% a solo player. On my ‘main’ server I am in a large guild that has nightly ops, takes part in conquest (usually at the top of the list) and there are generally always at least 20 people on, as many as 50 over the weekend since the expansion hit.

The game has always been a grind to me. I have many, many, alts. I enjoy having alts ready to go if I decide I need to play a specific role if I choose to do group content.

I enjoyed farming the former crystal currency so I could get suits of 220 gear. It was a goal that I could work toward and I could keep track of my progress in doing so since I was able to choose which pieces of gear I got and where they would go (via legacy Armor).

As there are many threads about this, I wasn’t thrilled about the idea of starting a new one, but I’ve come to realize I despise the new RNG gear reward system. I don’t like the lottery aspect of something that’s such a core part of the game (gear).

At first it was kind of fun, the “Christmas morning” present opening sensation….”oooh…what am I going to get this time?” However, when that feeling wears off and you begin to realize that your choice of gear has been completely removed from the equation…well for me THAT is pretty much the final straw and my enjoyment of the game has largely been taken away from me.

I would have NEVER done as much grinding as I’ve done with this game for the random/lotto cartel market packs. I’m not fond of the dual level (in some cases) random box reward (pack, then the grand chance cube). However, at least with the CM stuff, it’s mostly cosmetic stuff that doesn’t add, or take away from, your gear level, and thus your ability to play the game at your comfort level.

Let’s be fair, I’m not playing this game to be challenged. There are other aspects of my life that I can go to for a challenge. And if I want to play a lottery, I’ll drop some $ at 7-11 for the REAL lottery. What I do want in a game is a steady way to improve my characters.

This situation can be fixed. They can switch to a “one token fits all” system where everything you do drops a token that you can then use at ANY, and ALL, vendors.

The highest level gear would take the most tokens, but you would also get enough tokens in an ops run to get a piece of that gear equivalent to 4.0 gearing speed.

Lower level gear would require fewer tokens. Doing heroics would grant you only a small number of these same tokens. Everything would be about the same speed as 4.0 in this hypothetical system, but rather than at least 5 different currencies, you’d have just one.

And if you saved up ALL your tokens from a month of heroics and wanted the same piece of gear you’d get for running ONE ops…then so be it.

You pay to play this game. Play how you want to play.

That’s what I want to see happen.
