Seeing players with 1k or less achievement points doing operations

I remember when I started playing SWTOR, the only thing I wanted to do is to discover everything, to feel the Star Wars universe, and of course earn some money and else. I didn't even play any operations until I completed a few class stories, a lot of heroics and more important: a lot of flashpoints to gain some experience.

Yesterday I played DP 8SM with strangers and there were 2 firsttimer among us, each with 800-900 achievement points. They obviously didn't have any clue about the 'rules' of operations (do not aggro all the mobs around you, wait for everybody to heal up, do not attack boss before RC and etc.) so they basically f*cked up everything.

My questions is: where is this going to lead the game? The endgamers can't do a smooth run because newbies are swarming operations (my story happens often, not only yesterday), and the other thing: new players won't even reach Hoth or Belsavis, because they can level up with heroics and they join operations without a completed storyline. They don't know tactics, how to gear up (even if we have bolster in SM) or the etiquette to not Need on every drop. And the list goes on...

Back in 2011 SWTOR was a story based MMORPG, and I swear most of the beginners nowadays couldn't tell me who Darth Baras or Satele Shan is. They actually lose the point of the game.

I kindly ask you, dear developers, to limit the game for them somehow. Let them 'feel the Star Wars' before joining endgame content, and let us veterans play with experienced players.

I suggest to create a ranking system in operations. I mean new players would be Rank 1, when they didn't play any operations. To reach Rank 10 (or 2 or 5, doesnt matter) they have to complete all the SM operations, for Rank 20 all the HM, Rank 30 all the NiM. This could prevent failed operations and massive stroke for veteran players, because GF could calculate the Ranks and form a group of same leveled players. On the fleet, group leaders could easily consider if they want a newbie to join their operation by chechking the icon next to their names - just like Command Tiers.

It could be easy to say 'find a guild and play with them', but in an other thread I explained another big threat on the endgamers: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=9158769#post9158769

Thanks for reading, please leave your suggestions.

So you are doing operations you say ... that is weird coz all i hear on the fleet now is KP FARM KP FARM KP FARM or BESTIA EXP FARM... that's how the game looks like since 5.0

There are rare exceptions with full ops run, but yes, endgame is dead with this farming

No.

Just no. It's already bad enough that elitists kick out decent players who actually do understand the mechanics of operations. Not every newb is an idiot. And not every player can have every operation unlocked just to get to that point. Have you seen how slow the pop is for operations these days?

This happens again? Kick them, it's not hard if the player is actually being crap and not listening to any advice you tell them.

I'm sorry, I'm firmly against this. Reminds me of back in the day when I literally spent hours preparing for a OP I hadn't done before - just a simple OP, couldn't for the life of you tell you which. The point being I had no guild and I pugged for it. As soon as they saw I didn't have the achievement Elitists buttholes jumped on me, even though I was fully geared out and had told them I had watched tutorials and read guides on the matter. Nope, they weren't having it. I got kicked. Took me another month or so to try that again because I was so taken aback with the previous experience. Did it again, got into a PUG group. This time the people there actually listened and were nice. No deaths and I was praised for actually doing my part. That's how I met my first guild who actually raided, I miss them.

Yes I had that in HM FPS, especially after 5.0 many people are quing for them under level 70. Yes, most HM FPS can be done like that but SoR are exceptions, where you really need the level, skill and most players also gear.

People go through the leveling process with relative ease and think the game is easy like that. Well, its not, even SM operations can fail due to noobs in the group. Too many new players in the game and too little veterans to carry their butts through the content.

I also dont know where this is leading the game, but its definitely not good. Before I did HM FPS and often got a good group, now..... its a pain, maybe the 6th person that joins the que after LF replacement the 5th time is able to beat the boss with us, if people dont give up totaly.

Its sad what the game has become.

You just missed my point: as you said "I was fully geared out and had told them I had watched tutorials and read guides on the matter." Thats awesome man, but I was talking about ungeared, unexperienced players with a few hundred achievement points without eager to learn tactics from Dulfy or else. Guess when you joined your first OP you already had at least 10k achievement points and enough experience. My point is: new players should do flapshpoints, class stories and planetary quests to gain experience and prepare for the endgame content, the operations.

In short: you install SWTOR for the first time this morning but on wednesday you are already on Dread Palace, this is abnormal. Thats not this game is meant to be.

I totally agree with this.

- Never done DP because of high requirements set by elitists

- Founder, played in early access

- 25k points in achievements (I only go out and do them if I'm bored)

- 109k hp, 2x 216 armorings, 2/12 augments are 220, everything else 228+.

  • 1 month later...

absolutely ridiculous...

you cant judge a players ability level by their achieves... even its to see if they have done that specific thing yet, its still an mmo... if you have done the content before and are worried people dont know what to do then you should be the one to take two secs and explain it to them...

if not, then y is someone who is a veteran elitist even using the lfg tool? y arent you doing this in ur guild with people you dont have to worry about any of this with?

there are noobs and people not worth wasting time with in this game... come on, its an mmo lol... but there are also many veteran mmo players who have come from other games

there's just no reason to block other people just to make it easier on other players... especially in an mmo... that needs more active players not less....
