xordevoreaux
Because everyone is playing one and they never die Be mindful of using the term "everyone" as it does not fit everyone. You are over-generalizing. If you are feeling somehow that other classes are doing a better job of staying alive than you are, you need to take a look at yourself first. Are you geared appropriately? Have you selected your combat proficiencies? Is your companion set to heal? There are many more variables to survivability that character class alone. Simply implying that "they never die" screams volumes about what you've done to take care of your own survivability, regardless of your class. AlienEyeTX
If you're so b-hurt about it, why don't you just play as a merc?
HelinCarnate
Because everyone is playing one and they never die New Active Ability: Echoing Deterrence. Engages a defensive response system that absorbs all incoming direct single target damage for the next 6 seconds, reflecting 50% of the absorbed damage back at the attacker and healing you for 5% of your maximum health each time an attack is absorbed. Can be used while stunned. New Utility: Adrenal Surge. Adrenaline Rush heals you twice as fast and heals you up to 70% of your maximum health. Additionally, the duration of Adrenaline Rush is increased by 2 seconds. New Utility: Trauma Stabilizers. While Reactive Shield is active, you generate a stack of Trauma Stabilizers each time you receive direct damage. Stacks up to 15 times. When Reactive Shield expires, each stack of Trauma Stabilizers instantly heals you for 5% of your maximum health. Those 3 together should just read: Fixed a rare bug where the commando/merc class could sometimes be killed. I loved my commando and merc before the ptach, however I thought they could use a slight boost in durability. This change was massive overkill. Yesterday was in a Civil War match where mid was a stalemate. So I went to their side (snow in this case) by myself. There were 2 people defending. I managed to kill 1, and had the other down to close to death and still had 2 of my CD left. Then 4 others showed up to defend (allowing us to finally cap mid) and I was able to hold them off for a good 30 seconds, which should never happen with 4 v 1 dps. TUXs
I assure you, they are no more apt to survive than most classes are. I've played one since beta and this is the first time we've had anything close to the defensive options other classes have had for years.
Lionflash
Keybind your abilities. Stop backpedaling. Use interrupts, stuns and your own defensive cooldowns.

It's nice not to be instantly melted upon entering arena. I mean, when focused. Before they would ignore mercs and just blast us at the end. I like having a fighting chance. Silko
It is really not that damn hard. Treat them like juggs now. See the reflect shield up? AOE them. They have their passive heal up? Stun them and ignore. Energy shield up? Stun and ignore again. Really not that hard. I play a veng Jugg and I melt Mercs/Mandos. I don't have as many AOE choices as other classes yet I manage to deal with it. People need to learn to adapt. Kai-Del_Serromis
All it takes is a Guardian. Even me, who mains the Sage, can take down a Merc if I use my interrupts well. I find Sage vs Merc to be a rather fun challenge to overcome. I'd say I'm about 55/45 in favor of winning. I've only encountered a couple Mercy who know exactly how to use net against me. JLazarillo
The nice thing about Mercs being FotM is all the people who are playing them in PvP under the assumption that simply by being a Merc they are going to be a completely untouchable rainer of destruction. Stupid Mercs account for a surprisingly large number of my recent kills.
Vember
If you want to kill Mercs, make a deception assassin or infiltration shadow. If Mercs are as FOTM as you say they are (which isn't true from my experience so far) you'll have lots of targets
AutoCocker
They needed a defensive buff but BW did go a bit overboard here. Basically they kept their dps but have much more survivability than a pure tank geared PT (which hits like a wet noddle). Mobile MM Sniper dps + multiple self heals + heavy armor is to much no matter which way you cut it. Edited December 8, 2016 by AutoCocker
Nothing_Shines
Truth. It's nice not to be instantly melted upon entering arena. I mean, when focused. Before they would ignore mercs and just blast us at the end. I like having a fighting chance. It's nice to not be a glass cannon, anymore. Actually being able to hold a node for more than 30 seconds before a stealther stun locks me and melts my face is a breath of fresh air. Now I'm focused down on my merc because they know if they just ignore me, they're in trouble from my burst alpha strike. Since the update, I've noticed all of the classes seem to have a reasonable amount of survivability, not just mercs. People can actually fight a dramatic battle instead of spending half the match sitting in the spawn waiting for the gate to open. Although maybe that's because I finally last as long as the other classes and only now see what others have been enjoying. Stupid Mercs account for a surprisingly large number of my recent kills. This is also very true. Killed several that never used their CDs effectively and in some cases, never used them at all. They also just kept on shooting when my reflect shield was up just letting me heal up while hurting themselves.
