jmcdermottuk Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Ok so I returned to see how things had changed in 4.0 and the new expac and started a Trooper, decided I'd play this one through and craft instead of modding the same set of gear and I noticed something which seems odd to me. The Trooper styled gear (Asylum) is all Defence gear, and the Smuggler gear (Onslaught) is all DPS gear. Ok it's all adaptive so my Commando can wear either and it won't mean a loss in the Armour rating but ... I'M A TROOPER. I don't want to look like a Smuggler, I want to look like a Trooper but I want DPS gear. Admittedly I'm only up to tier 4 gear so far, for L 32 chars. Do we get it later or has it just been forgotten about? What, was it too much trouble to add a second set of patterns for DPS gear that looks like Heavy armour? It just seems a bit lazy that this was left out. While I'm still levelling the crewskill I've gone back to modding an orange set of gear that looks like Trooper gear. Very disappointed with the way this has been handled.
Demieker Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 use the outfit tab craft dps gear for stats and use the asylum gear (visible parts only) for the looks i just craft the asylum gear and do heroics for the dps gear
Mithros Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I'm not a big fan either. I think that they should have made at least three different sets for every tier up until the level 64/65 stuff; A +crit smuggler/agent style set, a +defense trooper/BH style set, and a +crit trooper/BH style set. Just make the two trooper/BH sets color variants. At level 64, make three trooper/BH sets and two smuggler/agent style sets. Trooper/BH sets for tanking, healing, and DPS, and smuggler/agent sets for healing and DPS. Again, with color variations to distinguish the sets and give the players a little more choice when it comes to baseline options. As it is, though, you just have to spend some credits to access the appearance tabs. I hope that the cost of those scales according to level, though. At level 65 they cost 5.500 per slot. ============= At level 65 I have two tabs set up. I wasn't able to get mods capable of matching what I could make with the 64 gear, so I am using that. Not a huge fan of the look, though, so I have a tab with a more traditional trooper look and another with more of a "stealth operations" vibe going on using the commando elite chest and outcast greaves with a black.gray dye module. I like using legacy-made gear, so everything my trooper (and hunter, for that matter) is using right now was made by a character in my legacy. Relics, earpieces, implants, armor, weapon... Even the dye modules are legacy made. I am not a hard-core crafter, in that I do not really use the market as much as maybe I should to sell my wares, but I am really looking forward to seeing what sort of crafting upgrades they have in mind.
JamieKirby Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 I levelled up Synthweaving and i have noticed the same thing, my juggernaut is wearing a skirt........instead of leggings.....yay, the tank gear is what a juggernaut should wear...looks-wise, but i guess this is the point, forcing you to waste resources to make 2 sets of gear, JUST to look the part? i am surprised they didn't make this cost cartel coins to craft the crap. I have since given up with all crafting and will stick to modding my gear in the future.....crew missions are a waste, unless you are immensely lucky with crits, then slicing is the skill to have, but only for artefact quality rank 8 slicing parts, everything else is a waste of credits to gather, you infact lose credits selling them, while you can make millions from the artefact quality rank 8 parts.
