Why do you subscribe?

I do so because it makes for better game play and based on the amount of hours that I play i pay roughly 25 cents an hour, which is very cheap entertainment.

I have never once found myself looking at a "reward" from BW and thinking "now that is worth subscribing for". Some of them are cool, some are lame, but none are a reason to subscribe.

Well, because I have since launch. I love the game. I know it has it's downsides... (don't all relationships really?)

I believe I get my money worth--I enjoy it for what it is and is not. $15 is worth it to me.

Now...if only that would get my a 3/4 size Eric Musco companion...

I subscribe because once I thought I could get by being preferred but hated not being able to go from my Stronghold to the fleet.

I also subscribe because I'm still having fun.

because I'm not poor.

people that cant afford and complain about a sub have issues. $15 is nothing I could never understand how someone could not afford that.

Who here has said they can't afford a sub? There are people who clearly don't feel that they are getting a good value for their sub, but that is not the same thing as not being able to afford it.

A lot of people. A -lot- of people. They say they can't afford $15/month. You can find it all over the place, especially in any thread for any game talking about F2P games.

Trying to claim otherwise is just you trying to be intentionally obtuse to make a "point" about your personal disappointments. And it's incredibly transparent, by the way.

I subbed for the convenience- armor customization, faster leveling, better crafting options. But those are side features.

If they were allowed for free to play, I would continue to play and buy things off the cartel market. Since they aren't allowed without the monthly fee, I'll end up quitting altogether and spending nothing in the cartel market.

Additionally, I don't want HK-55. So I unsubbed so I won't have to deal with that content. I'll be back late next year to catch up on the story, but the money grabbing by EA kinda drove me away, honestly.

Uh-huh, my "personal disappointments"... I think you're confused, because my displeasure isn't 'transparent', it's nonexistent - which is why I've been defending these perks and stating multiple times in multiple threads that I'm happy with KotFE and the direction it's taking the game. My only negative comment was that BW has over-hyped these rewards, which I believe would have earned a lot more good will if they had been downplayed leading up to the announcement.

So, no, my beef was not with this game, it was with someone making what struck me as a strawman argument - since I have not seen many (if any) people in the discussions around these rewards complaining that they "cannot afford" $15 a month, only that they feel like SWTOR isn't giving them enough bang for their buck to feel like it is worthwhile.

Subbed with the Amazon bundle (90 day game card) right before KOTFE came out. Currently working through class stories, and if I get bored (likely) I'll leave pretty soon after that sub runs out.

I got my subscription at launch b/c I had purchased the disk for my partner for xmas 2011. He knew I was a star wars fan and offered to pay for my sub to the game so he and I had a hobby together. It was my first MMO and even though there are many things I can't stand about this game... it's become my "old faithful" that I keep coming back to. I learned a lot of RL and in-game lessons from SWTOR and hate to thing of leaving. However, since Revan Returns, I have lost interest in much of the game and the sub incentives. They just aren't worth it. On the other hand, I keep logging in to do conquests etc because I hope the longevity will soon pay off.

Good question, thanks for asking and making folks think!

I always subscribe to games I enjoy, even when I may be taking a break for a few months. Once I have subscribed, I don't unsubscribe until I have finished with the game with no intention of coming back. I believe in supporting games I like.

Games that are not financially supported become unprofitable. As a 6 yr subscriber to City of Heroes/Villains, I got to see first hand what happens when games aren't profitable enough. My $15/mo may be a tiny drop in the bucket, but I can say I did my part.

I support the Free Market, but that means spending your money on things you like, helping financially support products and services you want to continue to enjoy, and not always trying to get freebies. I mean this in a general sense, not just games. This game is worth my money, and something I would like to be able to continue playing...

I subscribe for the same reason you and every other subscriber subscribe: I think it's worth the money. When I no longer think it's worth the money, I will stop subscribing, as will you and every other subscriber.

I subscribe because I enjoy the game and I feel its worth my money. I get the 180 day subscription so that I only have to worry about it twice. I never really take much time off from the game. maybe about a week a month so I find the 180 day sub worth it. I wont spend money on cartel coins anymore though. Unless I really want a 60 token but otherwise forget it. I can get all that stuff on gtn from credits that I earn.

When the point comes in my life where I don't see the point in playing anymore ill unsub. Until then I'll continue to play swtor
