Subscriber "Rewards": Chapters Released 48 hours later?

Recommended Posts

Patch days are typically Tuesdays, as we all know.

The date for Chapter X, Feb 11, is a Thursday. The "Subscriber Rewards" have the patch being released on February 9th - or the day it would usually be released otherwise.

So Bioware just moved the chapters back two days, and aren't even trying to hide it.

Marketing this as a "reward" is just silly.

You forgot to add that the subscribers will be paying them to do 48 hours of last minute beta testing for them.

Given that my female BH is still unable to complete her class story a month after KOTFE came out, I don't think Bioware will be fixing many bugs within that 48 hour window.

You do know that each month will have a separate subscriber reward that they have yet to announce? We only know the subscriber reward for the first month (January) will be HK-55. The following rewards may not be that great, like a speeder or pet. But complaining that it is just early access shows that you didn't read it correctly.

I'm pretty sure that players will subscribe for those rewards, or just stay subscribed throughout for the HK chapter. The two-day early access is just a nice bonus on top and nothing to wet your pants over.

Amusing to say that I didn't read something correctly when if you read my post nowhere did I say that "early access" was the sole subscriber reward. Just that it is a deceptive practice from Bioware and hardly a reward at all.

Yeah, they should definitely be rethinking this "reward". I didn't have a problem with the HK stuff like some people did (I loved HK-55 as a companion and wanted him back, and the bonus chapter looks very interesting to me) and wasn't expecting anything crazy to begin with despite them over hyping it, but that was something I had a problem with. It's not a reward and it won't feel like one either. Considering KOTFE is "sub only" to begin with, the odds of somebody not having access to the "early access" while quaifying for the chapter upon its official release are slim.

The release date being so late bothers me as it is but this just makes it worse. Because we're being promised "early access" but that early access is exactly the same date we would have gotten it had these rewards not been implemented. That's why it's not a reward in my eyes, it's a punishment to those who don't subscribe in time since they would have had access in any other situation but this new "reward" pushes it back two days. It's not a huge deal, but it definitely bothers me.

People need to realize what they did here. Since there is no upvote have a bump instead.

You may be downloading it at the time you would have otherwise, but you still get in two days before the suckers who waited until later in the month to sub.

Granted, that's probably not many people. But what do you expect for content that is only available to subs, anyway?

But just about every other major content patch would have dropped on a Tuesday anyway. All they really did was push it back two days for the "suckers."

what confuses me about this is that I was under the impression that only those folk who sub actually get the new chapters anyway.. so how exactly is 2 days earlier than advertised a sub reward?

I thought that was the case, as well; however, I think it just means that if you subscribe to get the chapter just before it's released, people who had previously been subscribed will get it before you. If that makes sense.

This doesn't make any sense to me. How do they get released 48 hours early to subs if subs are the only ones who can get the content in the first place?

For that rare person who subscribes part way through that first month, I guess? Just trying to ensure that everyone is subscribed on the first. It doesn't seem like a fairly rewarding incentive to me, since subscribers are the only ones who get it in the first place. Also, if you were intent on waiting until multiple chapters were released to sub again, "two days early" isn't much of an incentive either.

Note how it doesn't lock weekend players out of early access anyways lol

A lot of quests got reset when 4.0 launched. For some character their class quest disappeared. But there's a solution to get the quest back: in-game ticket.
