At a loss as to the current state of Operative/Scoundrel

First of all I'd like to state I've recently (4 or so days ago) returned to SWTOR after playing for 7 or so months at release and burning out on the raid content; I played Operative as both DPS/Healer throughout that period and really enjoyed the class before and after the nerf-bat hit us like a truck.

Now that that's out of the way, I'd like to know what happened to Operative, it seems very dead as a class in comparison to others; I came back wanting to play Concealment but from what I've read they're currently bottom of the pile in a quite a few of aspects.

After reading through the Dev Tracker it seems like there isn't much communication between the dev team and the players on class balance as a whole, I guess my question here is do the devs know about the current state of Operative/Scoundrel and if so what are they aiming to do about it?

Thanks in advance.

Lethality is performing at a mid-tier level. There are some disciplines that perform much better, and there are a lot of disciplines than perform a bit worse than Lethality. If you are dead-set on doing Operations as an Operative, play Lethality for the most part. It's a bummer to see Concealment in such a poor place, but at least our sustained spec is alright. Thanks for the reply, when I came back I had a free 60th level character so I ended up making a Powertech, it's extremely well rounded and easy to play but I found myself not enjoying it as much as I otherwise should so I went back to my Operative.

I don't really mind so much as to the current class balance to some extent seeing as how balance in most MMORPG's swings quite a lot between the FotM classes relatively quickly but from what I've read it seems like we've been left in the dark for a while and really hope that something will bring more light to Operatives/Scoundrels in general.

Running around the Fleet I don't really see a lot of Operatives, is this because we're not as accepted into raids based purely on maximum DPS calculations? Or has the class lost its cool vibe it used to have?

I'll have a look into Lethality and start doing some rotation practice on dummies, the only thing I'm concerned about with Lethality is target swapping, is that much of issue for us?

Thanks again.

You're quite right that Operatives have not been top-tier in PvE for some time now, but perhaps our time will come again soon. I am very much hoping for a small buff to Lethality and a medium sized buff to Concealment as well as nerfing over performers in the future, but we'll see.

Operative DPS is indeed the least played DPS class Source. Most Operatives you see are healers. While the balance of classes is somewhat related to this, there's more at play. Operatives are capable of out-DPSing Sorcerers, yet Sorcerer is one of the most popular classes around. I suspect that our low numbers are more related to the lack of interest in Operative thematically, but that is just speculation.

Lethality is among the worst disciplines at target swapping. For fights that require you to target swap such as Draxus or Revanite Commanders, I would recommend playing Concealment. For the most part though, you can get away with playing Lethality.
