Ranked PvP Mega Server

Greetings everybody!

My main toon's name is Tummy, and I'm a small-time player on the Shadowlands so very few of you probably recognize me but I'm hoping this gets around to as many people as possible. My main goal with this post is to hopefully spur people into getting together on a selected server for Ranked PvP, similar to the brief migration last season. With transfer still only costing 90 Cartel Coins, this might still be viable.

With the release of 4.0 BioWare has again failed (or according to their non-support of PvP statements, never even tried) to solve the Elo or queueing issues that we're dealing with due to too few people spread out over too many servers. I think the only way we can get around this is to do it ourselves by collectively choosing a server to conduct our Ranked PvP on.

Currently, Harbinger is the largest hub out of all the servers when it comes to consistent pops: though it is almost exclusively Imperial. Despite the Imp focus, that right there is already half the battle. I don't know if people prefer to play on a server that has pops with heavy Pub/Imp integration or separate servers for each faction, though I feel that having a high population on both sides would be preferred for matchmaking purposes - but as the Harbinger already supports a Heavy population most evenings and has some latency/connection issues at times, a separate server for Pub-side PvP might be the only alternative. Obviously, my suggestion would be Shadowlands - a lot of people moved there last season and seemed to enjoy it, but I personally don't care.

Anyways, as I said, my only goal is to hopefully have Harbinger-esque queueing for Pubs on one server or another, and I think now would be a good time to start thinking about it, while we're still in preseason. If enough competitive people are queueing at all times (or at least at peak times) we can also alleviate some of the sting of less-than-honest ranked activities... I'd say it's a win for all. At least give it some thought... I've never posted on the forums before so I'm not even sure how to get something like this started or in what capacity (vote/poll/whatever) so maybe there's someone more knowledgeable than me out there who can take it to the next step.

Thanks for any consideration!

TL;DR - Matchmaking, Elo, Queueing is all broken - let's pick a server to get everyone together on for some Ranked PvP slaughter. (mostly Pub side)

I'm going to copy this post to Reddit as well.

I got really excited when Kreia suggested this and SL was picked last time. This time I am jaded. It didn't work. People spent less than 2 weeks on Sl and then crawled back in their holes (IF they even showed). WZs were really great for that little while, but it didn't last long enough to mean anything.

With 90 CC transfers going on for so long this is pointless - everybody already transfered where they want to be. Mega server/cross server at thsi point cannot even make ranked population 2x as there aren't enough people interested in that left. Edited by Arunas

I think it's fairly obvious at this point and time that the server with consistent ranked pops is Harbinger.

That being said Republic side is almost non existent.

I encourage everyone to transfer to Harbinger with xfer costs being so low, and potentially there is a chance for republic players to q up for solos too.

Team ranked also happens almost nightly and multiple times throughout the day.

Even Kre'a's considerable charisma and restless genius was insufficient to herd the cats (as well as inspire a modicum of civility and collaboration) at the time.

However, his double move (Bastion, then Shadowlands) did set thing in motion, and slowly, quietly, people just tricked to the Harbinger ever since. So, if you do want to play ranked, it's probably the wisest to just go with the flow of this natural spontaneous migration, rather than to try to force a huge organized move.

So far as the ping is concerned, I have not noticed it slowing down neither the recent diaspora from Pot5 and Jung Ma, nor the folks from Australia, Singapore and beyond.
