gpwarner Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 In one of their developer posts prior to KOTFE launch, BW stated "We know that many players love our Operations and look forward to the introduction of new challenges, however with Knights of the Fallen Empire there will not be any new Operations." Obviously, at launch this was true, but does anyone know if this is true for the entire expansion? There are a couple of folks on my raid team who seem to think that a new operation is on the way, or was at least hinted at, but I haven't been able to find anything on that. Does anyone know of anything?

Probably at the same time as "better then cross-server" ahahah so true, i cannot imagine how someone can feel after delivering such a huge lie on his job..if at least they put something together after that, at least someone could have argued about the decision and fans could have defended the new idea, but better than CS so far has been only waiting. i fear the same will be for the new ops..too busy developing horrible cutscenes about republic/empire love.

I just worry that we're all under some illusion/hope that a new op is on the horizon, when there isn't one.

Jerba Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 (edited) I heard that they were planning to start working on the new operation once KotFE had launched in October, so I am expecting that it will be finished around Summer 2016 when all chapters have been released. So yea, I wouldn't expect it to land sooner then summer. And when you consider the amount of ******** Bioware fed us, including "no more huge downtime between ops" given us a year ago... The only plausible OP we can see right now is to have Vaylin, Arcann, or Valkorian (or the lore of the dragons/serpents) as the final boss. However, that would be counter productive to the whole KOTFE expansion of a single player MMO where all content is accessible by a solo player. with that said, a new OP would have to be entirely separate from KOTFE.

Kinda like ravagers was parallel to the main story. That said I'm operating under the assumption Ops are going the way of PVP, just occasional level and gear increases, maybe new decors or mounts, but no new content. Just enjoy what is there and who you are playing with, and play other games in your other time.

The only word we got was "early next year" and they used the same phrase in multiple livestreams and interviews. However, in the same sentences they did also commit to monthly chapters, not just the "about monthly cadence" they said in July. During one of the cantina tours, they also said that the next expansion (aka Season 2 of the story) will not be released in 2016, so my guess is on early 2017. It's possible that they'd want to delay the next operation so it ties in with Season 2 but who knows. I'm hoping that we'll get some more hints in today's livestream but I don't expect it. So a long time until new ops.
MuskyBoy Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 TBH I genuinely believe they will never release another operation. With the final chapter of KOTFE being released in August you can at the earliest expect no new op til October, however given it will be nearly 2 years since the release of rav/TOS why would they bother? Most of the people who play this game for endgame pve will be gone. The reality is its now a solo game and I suggest if you are playing in the hope a new op will come out then get your head checked because it's not coming.
