JessieLoverRxE Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Considering they went trough the class stories, ROTH, SOR, ROTE and were frozen in carbonite for 5 years. Bit of a random thought. I was sorta always thinking they're around 20 (year more or less) once they finish either academy etc, and a few months probably passed during the class stories and dlc's and so on. My guess is, they're AT LEAST 26 atm, but more likely somewhere 28, if not more. Thoughts?
tmwfte Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Come on, really? XD My bounty hunter isn't exactly a young man.
JessieLoverRxE Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 My bounty hunter isn't exactly a young man. Since this is a RP game, I guess we can all sorta decide for ourselves how old they are, guess the time that passed in our own way. Though, as I said, I doubt they could still be younger then 26 story wise.
JessieLoverRxE Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 You beat me to it. Yeah, except I was asking how old you think your character is atm (you know, for the fun of it), and not how many years passed while you were frozen up.
Theik Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Just as old as they were before they got frozen in carbonite. You don't age while frozen.
LadyVix Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Come on, really? XD What's wrong with 50's? Some of us are older than that.
Cuiwe Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 My bounty hunter isn't exactly a young man. Well, my BH was like 35 during the class story, so about 45-ish sounds fine.
dlcman Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Let's see...Dec '11 to Dec '15. That would make my guy what? Four? Yep he is four.
JessieLoverRxE Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 What's wrong with 50's? Some of us are older than that. Nothing is wrong with it, I just imagined the in-game time passing way slower, so I was naturally surprised when someone wrote that number.
Theik Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Nothing is wrong with it, I just imagined the in-game time passing way slower, so I was naturally surprised when someone wrote that number. They could have just made an old looking character to begin with? I don't think they meant they think 30 year has passed. ;P
legbamel Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 You don't get to be a galaxy-class smuggler with your own ship by 20. I figure my smugs are in their late 30s at least. Of course, they're now 5 years closer in age to Corso, the little rapscallion. Maybe he won't seem like such a child when they finally get back together. The same goes for my bounty hunters and Torian.
JessieLoverRxE Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 They could have just made an old looking character to begin with? I don't think they meant they think 30 year has passed. ;P I also imagined them being younger at the begging.
DarthDymond Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 (edited) and a few months probably passed during the class stories and dlc's and so on. I believe the SWTOR Encyclopedia that BW put out states that each Chapter of the base game took around a year. To my knowledge there hasn't been any official word on how long the various Interludes or Chapters Four and Five (RotHC and SoR) took. In the absence of such an official timeline for Ilum and beyond, I've always assumed that after the end of the class story time has moved either [A] at roughly the same rate as real-world time since launch (meaning just under four years since Ilum, making it around seven years total from the Prologue to the start of KotFE) or something more like: Prologue + Chapter One = 1 yearChapter Two = 1 yearChapter Three = 1 yearFirst Intermission + Chapter Four = 1 yearSecond Intermission + Chapter Five = 1 yearThird Intermission = start of the next year so that we're a bit over five years since the start of the game by the time we finish Ziost, with some time between Ziost and Chapter I of KotFE, followed by the five-year time jump between KotFE Chapters II and III. So your character would age normally for something like 5-7 years from whatever age you created him/her at, then get frozen for five more years, where s/he did not physically age. Cicgnar Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Well, acording to the timeline (loosely based on the Wookiepedia), from the Treaty of Coruscant to when we start our careers as adventurers 9 years pass. During our first chapters, the 10th year enters and the war starts again officially. From that point, the events of the Rise of the Hutt Cartel are like 5 years after that, and SoR a couple of years later. So I'm guessing our characters are around 10 years older, give or take one or two, than when they began. Plus five years inside a freezer.
Eanelinea Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Most toons are around 17-18 in prologue of their class story. Some are more like 19-22. NO ONE is older than about 25. Remember, we were newbs (fresh young Havoc commanders, Sith Wars, Jedi Knights, Smugglers, etc on Tython, Korriban, Ord Mantell, and Hutta). You can say you're 30s, 40s, or 50s, but the people in the game call you young. You're young, at most 25 in class story prologue.

I have a thing for older guys. EDIT: Yes, Quinn is 19 years older than my female Sith Warrior who marries him. Edited December 1, 2015 by Eanelinea
AlienEyeTX Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Well, if we take Lucas mentality... probably got discovered and started class story at 8-10 years old. So... maybe like 18-20 years old.
clearsighted Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 (edited) Because there are SO many elite, delta-class special forces commanders at 18-20... Anyhow. I'm guessing Havoc Squad is at the very least, equivalent to something like SEAL Team 6. (Even though, with the nature and scale of the missions they're asked to pull off, they're more like SAD - but I won't get into that, I'll just keep with the most basic and simplistic comparison)...and their average age was about ~38. If you broaden the range to the entire SOCOM community, than the average age dips to around ~25ish. But it goes way up when you consider those entrusted with operational command. The Republic Trooper starts out as a Sergeant, and is seemingly on the cusp of Lieutenant, right on Ord Mantell. There are extraordinary circumstances of course, but realistically, they're in their mid 20s at youngest. This said...It's all sort've besides the point. Since the Bioware writers went out of their way to cram in certain Stars Warsy cliches. That's why the Jedi Consular starts out as a padawan, despite the story clearly being written from the perspective of a Jedi Master. The male voice actor sounds like he's 45. It requires a great deal of suspension of belief to see him as a padawan, going to Jedi Master by six months later. But they did it so it would align with the Tythonian quests for the Jedi Knight who does realistically start off as a padawan and work their way to Jedi Knight, and finally, Master, by the end. The Consular requires you to basically pretend Tython never happened. The Bounty Hunter is also a naturally much older character, even if its story gets largely ruined by the shambolic Great Hunt narrative. The Smuggler is a good candidate as well for someone who starts out at basically Han Solo's age in New Hope. The Imperial Agent makes sense starting out in their early to mid 20s. The only characters where it makes logical sense for them to start as 17-18 is the Jedi Knight (because it's a classic Star Warsy story), the Sith Warrior (he's completely ignorant of even the Sith code) and the Inquisitor (given they're from a fresh crop of similarly aged slaves). This would put most characters somewhere in their 30s to early 40s, by the time that KOTFE rolls around. With some, like the male Consular or Bounty Hunter, clearly more sensible at the higher end of the age spectrum, with the exception of the rote cliche references to them being young on their starting planet. If you take in the 99% rest of the story and their voice acting, it goes up. This all seems pretty clear cut to me, absent someone having an age-related fetish that skews it. I personally felt that my Jedi Knight, who I saw as being 18-19 on Tython, was in his early 30s by the time of KOTFE, being Battlemaster of the Order and such after a decade+ of war. freeoftime Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Why would you have to pretend that Tython for the Consular never happened? It was pretty clear that part of your early promotion was to keep up appearances with the missions they're throwing at you *because* you've proven yourself extraordinarily capable. It actually bugs me more that the Consular gets a fancy title for curing some random Masters while the knight saves Tython twice and only gets a promotion at the very end of their class story... And the BH is repeatedly said to be young so presumably they haven't been in the business for that long when Braden discovers them. Makes more sense with the romance options to because someone over 30 with a teenager is just gross. (Like, I'm only 22 and there's no way I'd start anything with a teenager because noooope.) The SW coming from a prestigious Sith bloodline and not knowing the Sith Code is ridiculous tbh :/ If there's anything I ignore it's that. Regardless iirc the class stories go from 3643 BBY to 3641 BBY, Makeb and the Dread War would probably happen in 3640 BBY, FA and SoR in 3639 BBY, Ziost a few months later and KotFE I think starts 1 year after that, so around 3638 - 3637 BBY and then skips to 3633 - 3632 BBY. Which for my characters would mean... my JK is 31 - 32 (but he has weird RP related stuff going on with his age), my Consular game canon wise would be around 25 - 26, same for my SI, SW is 29 - 30, Trooper 34 - 35, Agent 36 - 37, BH 30 - 31 and smuggler 33 - 34. Plus 5 years if you wanna count the time in carbonite though technically they wouldn't age during that. (.....huh. Ashara is 30 - 31 now. Kind of weird not having her be the same age as my SI now xD)
Callaron Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 I figure somewhere from mid-twenties to mid-thirties, since some have always seemed older than others. Not that it matters much, since they were frozen for all of those years, so they likely didn't age. Then again, that trick didn't exactly work for Hylo Visz. =/ (or maybe she was already close to that age before going into statis)

Or because nobody would ever be promoted to a commander at a later age?
