Durotoon Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Is it worth going through the Rise of the Emperor story on Ziost or go straight into the fallen empire story line? Wanted to catch up with the story/lore of the game from when I left before (way back in hutt cartel), but seems now between the class quest bug on Rishi (which fixed itself last week with the restarts/patch) , and now not being able to progress past "Monolithic" on Ziost is putting a damper on catching up on everything. So, worth it to stick it out until a fix or just jump into the fallen empire content?
Deyjarl Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Is it worth going through the Rise of the Emperor story on Ziost or go straight into the fallen empire story line? It doesn't take long, so really depends on how much you participating in the story. I will say, skip the Epilogue quests. That part isn't worth it and doesn't really add anything to the story.
Luinthoron Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 The events on Ziost are the main trigger for KotFE and will be mentioned a lot.

It is quite immersive. I took the tour with my main toon and it gave me quite a drive for KotfE. But it was then disapointing killing the Big E right at Chapter 2. However, lernaing what happend on Ziost was impressive and terrifying.

Doing Ziost (all of it, including pressing the button on the terminal after you've finished it, because until you press that button, you haven't finished - and be prepared for a bit of a shock) lets you understand what the lleh people are talking about especially in one or two critical conversations between the player, Lana, Koth, and Senya.
Yomitako Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 I was under the impression that, unless you used the free 60, you had to go through the whole SoR storyline to even get to the KotFE one?

LadyVix Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 (edited) I was under the impression that, unless you used the free 60, you had to go through the whole SoR storyline to even get to the KotFE one? Nope. If you're Lv60+ and a subscriber, the KOTFE starting quest should be available on your ships quest terminal. It's there for my characters, even the ones that skipped ROTHC and SOR. @OP - The ziost quests are extremely fast. I can usually blow through em' and unlock the Ziost dailies in approx 20 minutes. IMO it's worth the time to do it at least once. Edited December 1, 2015 by LadyVix
SteveTheCynic Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 The ziost quests are extremely fast. Especially the one where you steal a speeder. That speeder suggests the real reason we can't have mounts faster than +110%. We would be able to use them to jump over certain cracks, crevices, and crevasses in the terrain, and reach places we aren't supposed to be able to reach.
Eillack Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 The events on Ziost are the main trigger for KotFE and will be mentioned a lot. This. And it takes maybe a few hours. BUT remember, OP, the achievements on Ziost are one-time, so if you skip it, that's it, unless you run it on an alt.
Muljo_Stpho Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Especially the one where you steal a speeder. That speeder suggests the real reason we can't have mounts faster than +110%. We would be able to use them to jump over certain cracks, crevices, and crevasses in the terrain, and reach places we aren't supposed to be able to reach. It's not the speed doing that. It's the trigger points that they programmed into the terrain to activate the speed boost animation and to yank you along as if you were doing some big impressive jump. (The speeder actually isn't any different than other speeders when you're not going over the boosts.) With that said though, I fully expect that if they were to allow anything faster they would make speeders with the boost power a permanent option and they would code in boost trigger points along all the main paths on each planet and maaaybe (if we're lucky) also some jump trigger points in some out of the way spots for new exploration achievements. It wouldn't actually be a faster speeder than 110% outside of hitting the boost triggers on those paths.
Roalmo Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Over in the "BUG" section of the forums, some peeps reported that the Monolith quest bugged out, and you couldn't complete the story line. Anyone know if that's been fixed?
Durotoon Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 Unfortunately there has been no fix as of yet, which was why I asked in the first place. With the class quest issue on Rishi, that was fixed with either the server maintenance or the patch that came with it. This one however, the original post in the bug forums for this is getting longer and longer with people being in the same boat and no solution really in sight. Really don't want to skip Ziost (even more so with the explanations from everyone above), but also don't want to wait weeks / months for it to be fixed with more and more KotFE content coming out.
SteveTheCynic Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 It's not the speed doing that. The distance a normal speeder jumps is, in part, dependent on its speed, and if you up the speed, you up the distance. That might make enough difference that they'd need to tweak the terrain in a few places (certain parts of Voss and Tatooine spring to mind, with deep ravines with narrow tops that you can almost jump over, and a faster speeder might make it, even without a Turbo Boost button).
efffel Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 This. And it takes maybe a few hours. BUT remember, OP, the achievements on Ziost are one-time, so if you skip it, that's it, unless you run it on an alt. Maybe you can do it after, my character skipped Makeb and it's still there. But I wouldn't advice to skip Ziost at all, it's not very long, 3 short acts with some sidequests, and it begins your conversations with the Emperor, solidifies your relation with Lana. In kotfe, you have decisions to make, and I think it is better to make them having Ziost in mind.
Shayddow Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I'd say, story-wise, it is very important to see what happens on Ziost first. Not doing so is akin to seeing Empire Strikes Back without seeing what happened to Alderaan in "a new hope". that said, I hope they put in a fix soon for those people that are stuck at monolithic.
