Reverse engineering should always give you something.

If an item can be reverse engineered it should break down into level appropriate pieces. I'm tired of RE'ing something to get nothing but a note that says there is no reverse engineering template. This should have been a no-brainer but apparently it wasn't.

I would also like to see all appropriate gear RE'able. In other word even if you can't get a schematic you should be able to get constituent pieces. Every piece of armor should be able to be recycled by an Armormech or a Synthweaver, Every ranged weapon should be recyclable by a Armstech, etc.

You can see whether an item has available recipes (and the chance of getting the recipe)

Before

you reverse engineer it, ya? Mouse over the item, and have a look at what it says. You may see, for example, "Chance of unlocking schematic 60%" (so you know there's something you can get) or "No schematics available" (so, you know you will get nothing before you try).

Something that I was thinking, though, was that if you reverse-engineer an item which is "grey" to your skill level, and there are no recipes available, you ought to get out a lot more materials... much like Slicing a low-level node generally gives you double results.

oooooh.

I found this thread in Bug Reports. Now I understand your concern;

you're not looking for Schematics, you're looking for Mark-8 Augment Modules, and you aren't getting them.

Valid.
