Threezer Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 So I started tanking in pvp on my PT. Had some good and bad matches, but then I tried my Jugg and wow, what a difference. So many defensive cds and the similar ones have a lowe cd than the PT. PT: 25% dmg reduction for 19 secs with a 2 min cd vs. Jugg: 25% dmg reduction plus increased defense for 12 secs on a 2-1/2 min cd PLUS a 40% dmg reduction for 10 secs also with a 2-1/2 min cd PT: Heal that begins at 40% hp with a 3 min cd vs. Jugg: Heal that can be used at 70% hp with a 90 sec cd. Sure the PT gets oil slick, but that does squat vs ranged while the Jugg gets a 5 sec reflect, a 30% hp boost and 3 stuns vs 2 for the PT. Is my view of this skewed or is the Jugg just that much better as a tank in pvp?
Scinald Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 So setting aside personal survivability for a second with a PT you get the following over a Juggernaut: 1) 30m AOE taunt as opposed to personal one 2) Ability to apply multiple forms of damage at 30m and most attacks have a 10m range 3) Ability to prevent node cap while stunned 4) Ability to guard your healers and still engage the enemy (see point 2) 5) AOE accuracy debuff 6) A moderately potent 360 degree spammable heal debuff 7) Pull instead of a push (which is generally more useful for tanks) 8) AOE hard stun 9) Superior damage mitigation outside of the DCD making you easy to heal Does that sound useful in a TEAM based PvP match? But thank you for posting your question. You just got me started on the "Buff Immortal Juggernaut" thread I wanted to post.
MasterFeign Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Juggs certainly have more active CDs, but if you're with friends and have heals, I'd certainly go with the PT over the Jugg. I think there may even be more PTs in group ranked too.
DerSchneider Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 +30% DR while stunned and HO are pretty much useful too.
Romansonesix Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Both classes are good for different reasons. They both have an AOE taunt. All tanks do. Juggs have a spamable slow and can turn smash into a 90% slow. Juggs have intercede, which reduces damage for a teammate by 30% (utility). Juggs can get 3 roots. Great for keeping melee off of healer. 6 or 8 s AOE stun (I forget which) plus two hard stuns. Juggs don't have a pull but they do have a push which is not only handy for so many situations but also resets their already much lower CD on leap. No I don't think either tank is in need of a buff. They're both fun in pvp and do their job well.
Snotrq Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Scinald gave you enough but I want to add few more: - consequence of point 2 and 4 is overall better dps - ambiant hate for AP make some people tunnel vision every PT/VG they encounter which is golden for tanking (normal WZ this is for real) - increased stun durations via talent On point 9, that's not quite true, DCD tanking is superior in pvp as long as you see the spike coming. But this said, decent players won't focus tanks in PVP and situations where you are 1v4 guarding a node shouldn't be happening in the first place, so utility & damage is more important than mitigation for a pvp tank especially in arena, and PT do this stuff better than Juggs. (Sin do it better than them imo ^^'). Juggs are still king of mitigation tho, too bad it's kinda useless in pvp unless for desperate node defences. Idk if they need a buff tho because pve they are just fine, and if they buff immortal utility it may become too strong.
AlrikFassbauer Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) Even in Unranked, a PT is always superior over *anything* else. Edited November 28, 2015 by AlrikFassbauer
Coloneli Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Its quite simply the damage and carbo, mostly thats the reason pt tanks rule over other tanks.
