Happyfist Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Thank you DEVS for fixing the companions so that game is fun to level up again. I would say, since the beginning of this game, it has gotten lots better. It's just one opinion of a founder.
Vankris Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 seems like a placebo effect to me. there aren't that much difference between companion now and companions 1 week ago before the buff. There are slightly more powerful, but not by much, and i'm pretty sure everything you do now, could be done 1 week ago, in particular levelling. but hey, more power to you if you now can enjoy the game.
Cedia Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Tinfoil hat time. I'm starting to think the devs planned the whole fiasco because if they had just nerfed to where it is now from the beginning, people would ***** and moan and leave and never come back. This way, they look like the good guys by giving back most of what they took out.
Deyjarl Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 How could you not do the main story line with the change?
Philip_V Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Meh, I find it more boring now after the nerf than before. I actually had to use some strategy when fighting mobs, now I just steamroll through everything again. I guess if I'm in the minority here, whatever. Just wish there was like a difficulty slider or something, so that I didn't have to turn off abilities or dismiss my companion to make it more challenging. I'd rather fight stuff that hits harder, than have to purposely hinder myself.
NRieh Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Just wish there was like a difficulty slider or something, so that I didn't have to turn off abilities or dismiss my companion to make it more challenging. Same here. I'm replaying my good old sawbones smuggler, and it's ridiculous. Those exp rates are insane. I don't think I've used my heal or CC once. The only way not to outlevel the content is to stop playing the game. Lv 20 in the middle of the Coruscant - no bonuses, minimum kills (stealth), no level grind, no HCs, no legacy (new server), no boosts. Corso is rank 9 with no gifts (couple of random minor greens, may be). Current content is level ~12-13. I'm 'synced' to 18. Steamrolled 'tactic' Esseless while being lv 14 (+18 shadow) - can't remember healing or controlling anything. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hardcore raider, more like a casual peasant, but that just does not seem right. And it's not only about the old 'vanilla' 1-50 content, Star Fortress HC is a joke when played in a party (healing is not even required like 95% of the time), while solo is not as hard as it's annoying. One either has certain number of DPS or not. It's not about fun or skills, it's all companion rank + gear (unless we count 'Don't Stand In Sh..Bad Thing' for 'the skill') You either can outdps the 3rd reactor spawns or you can't. Long time ago in a galaxy far-far away soloing HC4 was challenging, but fun and rewarding. One had to play smart, use CCs, adapt companion's skillsets and stats for the playstyle. Heck, even story bosses could be somewhat challenging - like fighting for the ship, Lightspring or Voidwolf, but it had not been that much of an issue. Now I feel like I'm being punished for my sub, because F2Ps with their penalties seem to have much more decent progression.
LoverNoFighter Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 They should've kept 12 x xp rather than making us grind like it is now. Story archs lose their gloss when doing them for the 8th time....
Stoofa Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 They should've kept 12 x xp rather than making us grind like it is now. Story archs lose their gloss when doing them for the 8th time.... How is there a grind? I started a smuggler yesterday. Now I know, I turned off the option to hide the "optional quests" so I ran everything on the starter planet. But you know - it's a small place and it was a matter of a couple of hours. So, ran all quests including the heroics (which were insanely easy with the companion). Then got onto the fleet and collected my crew skills. Level 19 dinged as I collected Treek. 19 levels on a single starter planet. There is no "grind" and with companions which are still overpowered the levelling process is so simply a 5yr old could do it.
NRieh Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Story archs lose their gloss when doing them for the 8th time.... Eating the 8th cake would never be as good as eating the very first one, no matter how yummy the cakes are. That does not really mean that all the cakes in the galaxy should be thrown into blender and pureed for the smoother swallowing and faster digestion.
maidelken Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 They should've kept 12 x xp rather than making us grind like it is now. Story archs lose their gloss when doing them for the 8th time.... I seriously don't understand this. I played my consular with the 12x xp and did most of the planetary quests as well and ended up at lvl 55 when I finished. I did my warrior with the 12X and only a few planetarys and ended up 51. Then after 12x xp ended I did my agent with practically no additional missions other than the odd space one and the first 2 planetary and he finished at lvl 47. My current knight has just arrived on Voss and has done absolutely no planetary missions at all, but I have picked up some heroic missions on the planets after hoth and I've done 2 solo flashpoints and I am lvl 48. So from what I can see the 12x xp amounted to about 8 levels across the entire game (probably 10 if I'd done them all on my consular). However a couple of heroics on each planet take so little time, especially if you pick them up from fleet and teleport straight to them, and they give buckets of xp.
Arlon_Nabarlly Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Thank you DEVS for fixing the companions so that game is fun to level up again. I would say, since the beginning of this game, it has gotten lots better. It's just one opinion of a founder. Well they traded you for me. I'm back to not enjoying story content, as I was when 4.0 launched. It was great pre-4.0 and during 4.0.2 but now it's just suck.
Avareth Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 seems like a placebo effect to me. there aren't that much difference between companion now and companions 1 week ago before the buff. There are slightly more powerful, but not by much, and i'm pretty sure everything you do now, could be done 1 week ago, in particular levelling. but hey, more power to you if you now can enjoy the game. We must be playing a different game. Before 4.0.2a things were easy enough, but nicely challenging here and there, now they're just okay. I fly through the missions, but how long does that keep things interesting. My guess is until the main story is finished and then I'm done. There is, however, a huge difference in how companions work between now and then. Follow your health bar, mon! It's bugged because it doesn't move no matter what's hammering me! OMG!
