I have a level 62-ish gunslinger. It seems to me that after the level 1-50 planets, there is a noticeable lack of "Hard" cover for you to roll into. I do not recall seeing any hard cover points on Makeb, ziost, the fallen empire or oricon. It was a fun mechanic and felt more natural than the shield you drop in front of you.

Anyone else noticed that or am I just positioning myself really, really poorly :-p

The actual take cover ability to the sticky points was always so buggy, most people just started using cover in place even if there is a hard obect. The devs saw that as being good enough to not work on the issues and just give up on the stickies all together I guess.

I personally only bind it for the very rare mobility opportunities it presents from time to time.

Although there are few to no hard cover points on the maps post-60, hard cover does still exist as a gameplay mechanic.

If you go into cover behind boxes, speeders, rocks, etc., in most cases you'll see the green shield icons over enemy mobs. In addition, you can see the "cover" words float up if you stay down while they try to shoot you.

So the mechanic and advantages of hard cover vs. portable cover are still in effect. What we've lost is the ability to roll into cover points, which sucks as it was one of the things I enjoyed about the class. The cover point indicators also served the secondary function of indicating what the game engine would consider to be valid hard cover.

Now you just have to wing it, using trial and error. Dip behind some barrels and hope to see the green shield icons.

I've found that I've mostly gotten used to it, but I do miss the coded hard-cover points.

Thanks! Didn't realize I could still get hard cover benefits
