sumquy Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 it depends on the fight. a fight with a bunch of weak adds, like revanite commanders or torque is going to do best with a burst spec like mm. in fights without adds, but the boss moves around alot, like kephess (tfb) or grob'thok, virulence would work best. lastly, if the boss holds still or can be grouped around adds then engineering is your "best" spec. having said all that, switching between specs is not necessary for sm or hm, unless you are undergeared. a lot of players (myself included) do it because we want to see how high we can get, but it is not needed to kill the boss, unless you are doing a nim.

I've been out of it for awhile and can't seem to find any information of pve damage numbers If you are serious about playing Sniper/Slinger, you need to learn all three specs (specifically Marksmanship and Engineering atm) and respec throughout operations, given which spec is more effective. If you are a player that is looking for the 'best' spec for any situation? Go Marksman/Sharpshooter... easy to learn and competitive on just about every fight, although you will be outperformed by a player that knows Engineering on several bosses.
