The Best Way to Show My Displeasure w/ Companion Change

This is a copy/paste from the "Cancel Your Subscription" page I just completed.

By clicking "Cancel my subscription" below, you will terminate your recurring subscription. Once your pre-paid time runs out, you will no longer be able to access the game until a new subscription or additional game time is added to the account. If you have concerns about your account or the game, please contact Customer Service.

If you are sure you want to cancel your subscription, please let us know why:

I am cancelling because:

Game/Gameplay was not fun or did not meet expectations

Also:

I do not find the end game content enjoyable.

Also:

Provide more details

Your comments:

I have cancelled my subscription due to the recent change to the companion system made with update 4.0.2

I rarely played pve content. With the change in companions in update 4.0, I found the pve to be enjoyable and was having fun with the more highly powered companions.

I like to play solo, but with an active and vibrant community filling the world around me. I do not enjoy being forced to group in order to play the content.

The best option I have to show my displeasure with your change, is to show you with my money.

I have one (more or less related) question. Do I understand correctly that cancelling works like this:

I still have (for example) 30 days subscription time from my last game time card left.

I decide to click on "cancel" today.

I still have 30 days subscription time left despite cancelling my sub now.

I haven't dared cancelling yet, because I am worried that this would end my subscription time immediately and I will loose 30 days for which I have already paid.

Thanks for your answer.

From what I understand, if you've paid for time in advance per card or sub, if you cancel, you will be able to play out your time as a "sub" until that sub month/card times out.

No, you keep your time. I'm cancelled, but because I pay six months at a time, they probably won't notice until February in my case. That's why I'm suggesting Twitter. More exposure for our problems. I love this game most of the time. I'm just sick of being jerked around and not being heard.

You've convinced me. I almost pulled the trigger yesterday but chickened out because I've been a loyal subscriber since pre-release. But it's probably the ONLY way to get the message across. SWTOR 4.0 was the most fun it's ever been, and I was telling everyone I knew how great it was. Friends and family were renewing subscriptions and we couldn't wait to play. For two months SWTOR was the only game I really cared about, and that hasn't happened with any game in a LONG time. Now though, I find myself debating whether to even log on or not. It's just too depressing.

Can I have all your stuff ???

I'm honestly looking forward to how peaceful the forums will be when only reasonable people are left once the chicken little community has vanished. :)

I hope you also look forward to the plug being pulled, mate.

Glad I could help. As customers, this is the best and most effective way we have to convince them of how serious we are.

I hope they make changes so that I can resub once more.

Yah, ok I agree the nerf was a little TOO much, but it WAS needed just not that much. But that plug was pulled game is going to die thing has been said in 2011 when it launched, then 2012, then 2013, then 2014, then this year now next year. I wonder when people will stop that :(

FWIW I picked thios up from another user in another thread yet it's been there all along and probably been posted and pointed out a few times but buried under unjustified rage:

•The Heroic difficulty mode for a given planet's Star Fortress is unlocked by completing the planetary resistance Mission arc for that planet. This mode is intended for groups of 2 players (with their respective Companions). That being said, it is possible for a solo player to complete Heroic mode, provided that player has a high-rank Companion, and has built Influence with their Alliance specialists (as this unlocks access to various usable objects within the Heroic mode that provide powerful buffs and additional abilities).

The game is now working as intended.

Heroics are soloable, the HM SF is soloable is you are very skilled otherwise do it as a group of 2 with your companions ... AS DESIGNED.

Irony is had they never stuffed up companions to begin with no one would be raging this amount ... if tears were gold ...

Not saying this alone will cause it, but that subscribers leaving will over time. Therefore I'd be hesitant to encourage anyone to quit.

5% increase in customer retention can increase a company’s profitability by 75%

80% of your company’s future revenue will come from just 20% of your existing customers

Attracting new customers will cost your company 5 times more than keeping an existing customer

They had finally attracted new customers. People LOVED the change to companions. The new customers, and some old, are now leaving.

And you believe that the only reasonable people are the ones who agree with your point of view? With your opinion?

How shallow.

That's because the casual community that had abandoned this game returned because of the promise of what companions were meant to be. Now that's gone, and so are the casual people that finally enjoyed running through solo content. I had friends return, and now I'm having friends leave because they feel they have been cheated and lied to. Can I make them stay? No. It's just a shame that they experienced a fun game for a short amount of time before it was tainted. I can't honestly recommend this game to the people I was hoping to see play it anymore, either, because I know they'll find solo content is too tedious. All I can feel towards BioWare is immense disappointment.

It's hard to finally have the chance to believe in a developer team again only for them to show you that they haven't changed or learned.

Shallow is absolutely perfect in describing the hateful attitude of those that got what they wanted, only for it to ruin the enjoyment of the game for others.

You're kidding yourself if you think the forums could possibly be peaceful when some people have the attitude that you do. Sweet hypocrisy, bro. :)

Be careful what you wish for.

I'm not personally canceling my sub (yet), but I'm certainly not enjoying the game nearly as much. With that said, in my 2 and a half years of playing, this is by far the most potential people that I've ever seen leaving...because of one unnecessary incident. We have a 45-page thread about people canceling their subscriptions, about 95% percent of which is posts confirming that people are leaving. Many of those people convinced friends, family, and peers to come try the new leveling changes. A lot of those people will now be gone as well.

This situation is different from the slot machine and pre-4.0 people leaving, in the sense that it actually effects the gameplay and enjoyment of the storyline. A pre-4.0, fully geared companion at level 60 would be powerful than a current rank 50 companion at level 65. That's nuts. For me, this nerf just makes the game more tedious and boring. But for other players, especially new ones, this might severely hinder their ability to complete basic story content. Casual or newer players might only have an hour or two to play this game. What could possibly make the developers think that they would want to spend that limited amount of time slogging through combat at a reduced pace and having multiple deaths? That's absolutely not fun.

No I believe those cancelling their sub over the difficulty effectively going back to "a bit easier than pre 4.0" because they can no longer cruise through content they never should have been able to ( HM SF ) in the first place are being rather petulant and childish so why not treat them as such.

It's the same solo content ... so somehow people found killing trash that offered no challenge what so ever to be more tedious a job than trash that might actually pose a challenge ...

I wish more people would be honest and just admit they are pissed off they lost their easy way to the "loot" that came with OP companions. The gameplay isn't any different, if anything it's less tedious now because you are forced to think and possibly use a full suite of abilities to get through as well as consider gearing options and oh the evil of most evils ... possibly group up.

Tedious ... pfft.

Because god mode is great fun right? I hope anyone who enjoys that style of "play" don't insult the term "gamers" by calling themselves such because they're not, they're just theme park enthusiasts enjoyin a leisurely roller coaster ride.

Now you are deluding yourself.

Companions have less stats now than they did before 4.0 when you could gear them yourself.

Healers are getting 1.2k EHPS, in 3.0 they were getting over 3k EHPS if you bothered to gear them properly. How is that going back to being easier than pre 4.0 when they made your companions WEAKER than they were pre 4.0.

If only you could increase their stats with Influence.
