I got inspired by another topic, to ask this question. Someone compared the nerf of the companions with the nerfing of the slot machine. So I am curious how many people actually use it now?

I'm not interests in any other things beside a yes if you use it, and how often

Stopped using it when i maxed out the reputation from it, so before the nerf happend. Another thing i couldn't care less about a nerf or not. Edited by Alkuzar

I put slot machine on display in my DK fortress, I still have hundreds of coins but I refuse to use them. They will remind me of BioWare incompetence and of their disrespect towards us, customers.

They should post some data regarding slot machine use nowadays and before the stealth nerf.

Pretty much this.

Have maybe used it once since the nerf. Still have hundreds of coins sitting in the bank on a toon that I use for storage.

Before that nerf, I had actually gone out of my way to get it by buying cartel packs with real $$, after I saw the dev post confirming that they were originally working as intended. Donated it to my guild, had the entire guild playing them (and loving them). Hasn't been touched by anyone since the nerf.

All too similar to the companion nerf situation.

Yes, I have one in each of my main stronghold on each server with an encrypted terminal next to it to pay for the tokens. They come in handy for building rep and the occasional cartel cert.

For a while I had a "free spin" plan going. I had a couple characters set aside that were created for the sole purpose of hanging out in the stronghold to harvest money from the encrypted terminal daily (or however often I could get around to logging into them) and then dumping all the cash they had on them into the slot machine. (It's "free" in the sense that the only money that ever got spent on it was free money from a stronghold slicing node and the returns from selling the trash prizes (rep items) won with that free money.) Over the course of however many months I kept that up (I set this up not long after the machine was nuked, I stopped the experiment and deleted the characters a month or two ago) I managed to win maybe... I forget offhand. Something like a green scrap, a couple blue scraps, a purple scrap, and a certificate? If it was more than that it wasn't much more than that. (But at least I could rationalize it as being "free" since it was only fed by money that I wouldn't have had if those characters had not been harvesting from the money tree.)

EDIT: Logged into that server (it wasn't the one I usually play on) to check. It looks like my total haul from this long drawn out cheapskate experiment was 0 green scrap, 6 blue scrap, 2 purple scrap, and 2 certificates.

I have not touched my slot machine in a long time, it is basically just another piece of decoration for me now.

I got 3 in the hypercrates I bought for it but have not bothered to use it after it was deemed "working as intended" then nerfed into the ground.

I bought two tokens once after the nerf just to see it with my own eyes. Never again. Don't even know where and in what stronghold I have it placed nowadays. It's just a deco like any other deco.

I went to the casino on Nar Shaddaa once, not knowing anything about how they worked or if they'd been nerfed. (I was in and out of the game a lot back then and wasn't really keeping up.) I found it boring and totally pointless. I wasn't aware there was a decoration you could get. Anyhow I've never been much of a gambler. They might have been fun when they first came out and actually did something.

What do they do exactly?

I don't play with mine. I did buy a crap tonne of them to furnish my casino with...they're very pretty and flash a lot.

But I'm not that rich that I want to blow off credits for coins that don't give anything I want.

I really feel that they should re-do the drops in the machines, rotate them from month to month maybe...like a variety of pets to start, some decorations...then maybe some costume items, like hats, slave collars, sunglasses/goggles...maybe even do seasonal things like Hallowe'en type stuff in October...and Life Day stuff in December...and of course some special speeders...I think the key to making these things fun and usuable again, is just to put in fun things, where no one can say it's 'play to win', but just something to have fun with again. The key words are 'something you can have fun with that gives no advantage.' Hell they could have a month devoted to their patron saint of idiocy...Kai Zykken...where you could win a log, or a sandcrawler and any number of other goofy things in between, and just so people don't complain that the luckier set amongst us are 'winning' by selling the more awesome drops, make them bound to legacy, so only the player themselves can benefit from the more valuable things.

I had maxed out the rep before the nerf. Tried it after the changes in the hope it was still useful, but now its just junk.

Perhaps if it was altered again to now have a higher (OR ANY) chance of a Cartel Market Cert.. it might be worthwhile.

I spent a lot of time using them before they got nerfed. I haven't touched it since (not even to clear out the worthless tokens I still have).

Same here. One of my char got like 600 tokens still left but wont use them.

And i was one of them compared companion nerf with slot fiasco :)

Bioware just dont know how to make neat things fun AND make profit from it with CM.
