Just to clarify: I have a clear stance on this issue that will not change, simply because I believe it was actually possible to please both camps this time. What I want to do is to gauge a response to the changes introduced in this patch that primarily affect solo content, solo players and companion effectiveness. Regardless of how I feel or what I think, this poll is meant to quantify some small response to the issue at hand.

For those of you that felt companions needed a nuclear-level nerf: what would have satisfied you outside of this option? Would have you been OK with the introduction of Hard Mode for most of this new solo content if it gave rewards according to the challenge it presented? Or does it go beyond the option to repeat content like the KotFE storyline or the Heroics but with challenging mechanics that actually stretch the capabilities of you and your companion? For me, I feel that a Hard Mode would have been a good start to addressing the complaints a lot of people had about content, similar to how Solo Mode is much more difficult than Hard Mode, simply because one is meant to view the story, whereas the other is meant to make the story challenging. I sympathize with the people that wanted a real match in the new solo content for the player/companion duo outside of just repeating the same Star Fortress 2+ Heroic without any of the buffs, but I think those people also need to realize that all of this "way too easy" content is mainly just grindable, shallow missions that don't really challenge you, but instead act as tedious roadblocks that are merely perceived as "challenging" (think content filler here). What we needed was more choice handed us to in how we wanted to play. Hard Mode exists for a reason, and I think that needs to start being extended to solo content, because the 2+ Heroic Star Fortress without any of the buffs or abilities was actually kinda fun and difficult, but I'm glad that wasn't forced on anyone at the time of its conception.

 

Now? I feel like a lot of that choice has been ripped away without any attempt to try and appease both parties. Is it troublesome to try and bake in a new difficulty mode for pre-existing solo instances? Sure it is; balancing isn't exactly a concept that BioWare grasps over night. But would players have found a way to do it? Totally. A lot of the solo players seeking a challenge outside trying to do unorthodox stuff by themselves are starved for something similar to soloing old Flashpoints or Heroics 4s at the level of that content (none of that silly +5 or +10 nonsense). Would it be such a bad thing to have our class and expansion stories repeatable on the grounds that they now have a hard option that unlocks after initially beating it? New mechanics and surprises that are perilous for the old titanic player/companion duo of the previous patch was what I had somewhat hoped for, to be honest.
