ShadesofNight Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 (edited) How about instead of flinging insults and arguing with each other we try to actually help people out huh? So, some things I've noticed... Healing comps can't keep up, don't use them. Instead, try a comp set on tank. They do take a bit of damage, but will draw the enemy away from you and don't need constant attention. Alternatively if you're a healer try having a comp on damage while you heal them. Also, make sure you rest between fights if you need to. By if you need to I mean, if either you OR your companions have lost health. It's easy not to notice, but your companions health is important as they stand between you and the enemy. By the same token also keep an eye on the other bar you have, you don't want to start a fight with that depleted on some classes or you'll be disadvantaging yourself. Try to only attack one group of enemies at a time, it gives you and your companion much less to have to overcome. To help with this keep an eye out for any wandering enemies and try to take them out first while they're away from other mobs. Lastly, something others will know more of as all my companions are currently at influence 10 But getting more influence may help how your companions perform. Edit: And make use of the boxes you get from heroics to keep your equipment up to date. This doesn't mean you need to traipse through the heroics at your level, try the ones from your starting planet (Ord Mantell, Hutta, Tython, Korriban) and capital world (Coruscant, Dromund Kaas) as they may be a little easier to handle and give the same reward in terms of the boxes. (Unfortunately pref and F2P can't get these boxes, so for them the best suggestion is to have orange armour and use the crystals from heroics to buy green mods off the fleet) So, anyone else like to add tips and pointers that might help people out? shreefe Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 I don't have any tips as I haven't ventured to attempt a log-in yet. I believe it's been stated by the devs that things should get better with higher influence levels. Also, I appreciate someone making a post that doesn't have the same topic as all the rest.
Cheyera Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 (edited) Your tip is to use the companions as tanks that does not have any armor and are not being fixed BEFORE 4.3.? Edited November 18, 2015 by Cheyera
ShadesofNight Posted November 18, 2015 Author Posted November 18, 2015 (edited) Your tip is to use the companions as tanks that does not have any armor and are not being fixed BEFORE 4.3.? I've tried mine as tanks on several heroics and they've done much better than the other roles I set them as. So yes, that is my advice. I never had them as tanks prior to this patch so I'm not sure if they've been changed and are better than before or not. I'm not saying it would work for trying to solo high-end stuff, but it certainly functions in normal gameplay and heroics. And if you have better suggestions why not share them? DayneDrak Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Your tip is to use the companions as tanks that does not have any armor and are not being fixed BEFORE 4.3.? Check their stats, I'm seeing screenshots folks are posting where their companions actually do have stats in tank mode, so it might have gotten slipped in
Fatumx Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 My tip...don't rely on your companion. I mostly use my companions to support...not as a crutch. Example, I play on my jug tank and can keep myself about 50% easily using cooldowns and abilities. I don't need a companion to keep me alive, I don't need a tank to hold aggro off me, I use dps companions (or now rolled companion) to just kill faster. Or on my dps toons I use CC on fights I'm not 100% sure I could easily take on solo (Ie multiple elites) with a little kiting around or slows/stuns I can take them on with no problem, for these toons often use tank or dps companion even tho I usually rip aggro off my tank comps in seconds, it draws those hits for a few seconds which is often all you need. Here's a good way to test yourself. Go quest for a bit with no companion...you should be able to do it solo. If not, well...find a guide, watch a video on youtube etc. You have cooldowns, crowd control (CC) etc, use it. To sum it up...L2P
JulesKor Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 With my sentinel I will have to hope that at least one of the elites in a mob is a droid so I can use CC
ZeridanShear Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Short version: Don't use the healer mode. It's **** now. DPS and tank mode=great. And I agree.
