Tarsideous Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Personally, I do love PvP. However, has anyone considered making it a little more fair in the matches? Often, I have been on a team that in no way is full or in the right gear. I am curious if you have put any thought at all into a system that starts a match equally and fairly. Regardless of the map, you could implement a system where you give a one for one entry. Meaning, if one player enters then one can enter from the opposite side until both teams are full or the match starts Either way, you keep the numbers at least even, making the match fair. I realize this is not a new idea, many games actually use this system. However, I feel you would bring new life into part of the Game many of us do enjoy and perhaps more will come to enjoy by doing this one, small change. Thank you for your careful consideration.
khsolo Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 There should be a gear check, like someone in this forums suggested, there should be pvp for those who have less than 2018 expertise and should not let in those who do have 2018 expertise that way you should be with your peers instead of with people with more experience and gear
Yorioko Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I am really not sure how much of a job it would be to have ALL gear combined, meaning all gear either having an expertise rating, or no expertise rating is needed for pvp. I would think the best option would be to have expertise on all gear, OR allow modifications With the expertise skill to be sold through common vendors, thus making them more acessable.
Tarsideous Posted November 17, 2015 Author Posted November 17, 2015 Exactly, and why not put players with their equals and peers? They get to know each other, good or bad. And, often you create new friendships from the experience. Why not make the experience good for everyone? This can be very, very easy to remedy. Create a system that matches players with their Gear for matches as well as a one for one entry. This creates fair matches for everyone.

It seems fixing the matching system is actually quite a task, so I think rather allowing either all gear to come With expertise, possible as a leveling skill, or allowing the pvp modifications to be purchased for non pvp Crystals/commendation would help alot.
Tarsideous Posted November 17, 2015 Author Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) Perhaps, however just because you want mods available for purchase for PvP from vendors does not create a fair match. I believe you are missing the point. First, make matches fair. You can match one for one until the match is full or starts. You can also match by gear score. Both ideas are not new, and are presently in use in many MMOs. So, the idea of creating a mod vendor just for PvP isn't needed when you have a PvP vendor. On the fleet, you just take part in matches and get the gear you want to break the mods down from. Then you have your mods, so that isn't necessarily something new. Now, what would be something novel, create tier vendors, we have a group of folks that are free to play. Why not create for them a level 50 set? After all,, not everyone can afford to pay. But many do enjoy PvP. That, to me, is a worthy argument. Make the game more enjoyable by creating balance in matches and making it fair for everyone. Edited November 17, 2015 by Tarsideous

Again since it will have to be implemented as a change to the que system, Bioware desn't have that in their mind right no at least, so I doubt it will happen. I still feel the main innsue in team pvp is Trinity, or lack of so. once a team has a good Trinity they usually win, even if "weaker". Couls maybe a tab system be implemeted so that you que up as say a tank, then, a dps, then a healer etc.........this way trying to enforce some team Trinity. Speaking from a very Limited experience, what I have seen is a total lack of tactics........I was on several teams where a tactical "slower" approach would most certainly secured a victory. I wasn't saying buying pvp grear for ordinary Crystals made pvp less unfair, I ment it to introduce both aspects and encourace both aspect of the game to both "camps". this way securing a recruitment to the more purist PVP player base, and the very predominant "mixed" player base and also allow for the non PVP players to still enjoy at least the intoductary, and "cosmetic" pvp aspects though the WZ, without really any one suffering for it
teclado Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 This has some answers: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=7299143#edit7299143 The TLDR and sad truth is this: BW does not want to do ANYTHING to divide up the population or set barriers for entry. This includes matchmaking, allowing players to choose specific warzone maps to queue for.
Alericus Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 They already did this and players still came in under geared. The simple solution as always can be implemented. They proved it with ranked when they made it so players at 65 could not enter it unless they had 2018 expertise. I say do the same thing with unranked at 65. The other option is to remove the pvp requirement for the companion quest and leave the expertise requirement open but I'm sorry but at lvl 65 and as well on the pvp servers I don't get the poor behavior or attitude towards pvp, its odd. The only other thing I can recommend and this would likely be met with outrage but perhaps its time to consider that if you want to come into matches under geared , goof off , go afk, perhaps Bioware should make it so there are zero rewards for losses. Perhaps it is time to solely reward wins, even for your daily and weekly quests. Its not like you get drops if you don't take down the boss in a ops or a flashpoint so why reward losers?
Tarsideous Posted November 17, 2015 Author Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) Interesting. Great ideas, all of which should be considered. I guess it boils down to what will they do or want to do to improve the game that is aging and about to have even more competition for their player base. I personally like the idea fine tuning the matches where you can select the ones you are interested in taking part in. I'm not sure about you, but if things don't change and a game comes a long, soon, that offers the very things we are all discussing. How many will remain? Now asking this one question, what happened to SWG when their customers were ignored and the devs did their own thing? That game went free to play so fast it set an all time record for MMos that went bankrupt. I believe they set a Ripley's world record for customers lost in a 24 hour period.
