Yep. Well, not that there is no point in the tacticals, just that tacticals are annoying, stupid, don't teach people mechanics, don't teach people group composition, don't teach people their rokes, and are just boring wastes.

But of course now DPS queue as fast as everyone else. That's what is really important.

It matters in that an ideal group is still tank, healer, 2 dps; a group consisting of those pieces will have an easier time. If any piece of that trinity is missing the FP is still doable, but it is harder:

  • four DPS, means a lot of running to med stations
  • tank and three DPS, has the same issue
  • 3 dps and a healer, the healer ends up "tanking" (unless one of the DPS has a taunt)

Furthermore, tactical FPs are a decent training option (for those who choose to take advantage). Tanks and Healers can learn the ropes of those roles in a more forgiving environment (if a tank loses agro, a dps is not going to insta-die; if a healer is slow to react, death is unlikely)

Lastly, it was demanded. The masses play DPS characters. As a result, the ratios of dps to tanks and healers is so far outta whack that dps can spend hours in queue waiting for a trinity group. Or worse, a dps player will queue as a tank or healer for faster queue and then not be able to fill the role (and the group is then forced to kick the offender and wait for a real tank/healer). Tactical FPs were the solution.

I just feel like they ruined it... They took the whole dungeion(flashpoint) system away.. There is no skill anymore.. Its just run and shoot them up now... I get there trying to make it easy for newer people.. But still.. Dont ruin it for old subs.. Im totally thinking of unsubscribing now cause of it.. Its sad....

Does it bother anyone else that tanking and healing does not matter unless your over level 60 with hardmode flashpoints?

You should see all the people claiming the tfp's are impossible without tank and healer.

I like the new tfp's on the opposite basis of what psandak said. If the group has 4 dps they have to think about what they do which teaches them to interrupt and cc and so on.

I often use the example of Oricon as a time when BW tried to teach players about these things. If a player was not overgeared the boss at the bottom of the map would have to be stunned to beat it. If the player is not overgeared the boss at the top of the map must be interrupted and the mara at the top of the tower had interrupt priority (he had 3 channels, 1 of which did far more damage than the other 2) and needed the use of DCD's and so on to beat (unless you were a healer with tank comp then everything is a joke).

And what did players do when they got to Oricon? they went round in groups. The fights were designed so a single player must learn their class to beat the bosses and rather than learn people just decided to cheese it.

I even saw on a recent thread before 4.0 came out, it was people complaining about level sync, one person say "it will be impossible to solo oricon with 1 level 55."

But now the difficulty (if you can call it that) of tfp's cannot be cheesed by overmanning the missions (granted some groups still cheese by kicking the lowest player and using an overpowered comp, but scrubs will be scrubs) and people finally have to start doing things properly or never complete the mission. I cant count the number of people I have met who said "kilran is impossible" and when I explain that after a while he leaves cover and loses all his powerful abilities they reply "Oh, I didn't know that."

People used to be able to ignore mechanics and steam through with no issues. That can no longer be done and I think that's great.

Do they learn? No.

Instead they create whiny threads on forums, demand nerfs, say they'll unsub if game would stay that hard for them and so on. Personally I think they could totally use freaking Sam L Jackson with a freaking shotgun pointed at them to actually start doing stuff.

I mean.... Look at it. Some of these claims are totally legit, and certain FP bosses are overtuned af as compared to other content so I wouldn't demand most of the players to get there, but there's a distinct kind of posters on forums, they be like "you see, I'm a casual raider and I raid with my casual guild (it's almost never "i'm a scrub and I will be one no matter how hard I try", usually it's "i run with scrubs all the time, we wiped twice on boss, boss is impossible, please nerf"). There are a nice type of guys who are reasonable with no-go runs, but there are those who don't even try.

Sadly, many are using the game like a drug, for short-term gains and doses of pleasure. Huehuehue, i run around and kill everything and there are other peeps so they can see how OP I am. Thinking once that they are actually bad ruins all the fun so it's avoided. GG.

Sounds like you pretty much agree with me. Before when BW tried to force players to learn they just over-manned the mission by running in groups. Now the hard stuff is in 4-man groups so theres no option for cheesing it.

Tbh if the scrubs want to quit I wont mind (ofc bw will) and bear in mind the types of people who come on forums. All the posts about "impossible" tfp bosses (when reading these posts its often a quick fix along the lines of "don't ignore mechanics which are this, this and that") were made by people who couldn't do it. All the people who can do it have kept their mouths shut. Reading forums isn't really a good sign of where things need nerf.

I miss the old system too, I learned to tank for the faster queue times. Of my 8 characters 6 are tanks. Twice now I have been booted before we even started in groups with 3 dps because they said tanks were useless. So thanks for making 6 of my characters useless lol. Yes there's still HM I suppose.

Pretty much yes.

Except Heroics are incredibly easy now and maybe only comp nerf could fix that.
