So recently I've started playing more and more PvP and I continue to find that although my stats and gear are OK for storyline gameplay, I notice I'm not even close to up to par when it comes to PvP. I'm fairly new to the game but I've played through the SoR and KoTFE questlines (which is why I'm PvPing). I've looked online and tried to figure out how to up my dps and which gear to get/upgrade but most of it isnt making sense. Any help would be appreciated. Playing as Hatred Assassin btw.

I currently have a set of armor that I can throw mods into, I just dont know which mods to go with to maximize damage and overall hp. Edited by captainbraz

You can't go wrong with Krea's guide. You did start with putting all the mods in your gear, right? Because if you leave any of the PvE pieces there, it will not bolster.

So, what stage are you on in the gearing process? Are you in 190 set, the 204 or 208? To be honest, if you are in an augmented off the shelf set-bonus, so long as you are no tank, and if you loaded crit or alacrity augs, stimed, the performance will be then defined mostly by your skill & ability to play with your team mates, with really minor variations in the regs.

I guess you could say I'm not in a stage with the pieces I have. They currently have no mods in them because I havent gotten any yet. I've got the creds to pick some up, but I'm not sure which mods to use.

Under level 65, don't worry about it too much. Most people just use whatever pve leveling gear that they have. If you want to use an orange set, that gets a bit trickier. Stat optimization depends on your class and spec. If you are damage or heals, you want some alacrity, critical, power, mastery. If you are a tank, you want lots of endurance, some defense, some shield, some absorb, some crit, some power, some mastery.

When you hit level 65 and get a set of pvp gear, you can pull the armorings, mods, and enhancements and put them in your orange gear set. Then you can tweak alacrity, crit, power to your liking. Until then, I would suggest just going with whatever pve gear you had been leveling with.

Under 65, it doesn't really matter what you use in warzones because the "bolster" system will boost your stats to a competitive level.

EDIT: Sorry, I noticed that you said hatred assassin. You can check out the assassin / shadow sub-forum here: http://www.swtor.com/community/forumdisplay.php?f=426

Yeah, you could experiment and figure out how to get the absolute best stats for any given level under 65, but I doubt that anybody does that because leveling is pretty quick now in this game. The goal is to get to 65 when you can get pvp gear. Until then, just have something in every slot (including relics and implants) in order to get as close to 2018 expertise as possible.

You do NOT need to buy ANYTHING for Credits. Use the Crystals that you get in PvE content to get the 190 set of gear from the Supply Section of the Fleet to start with. It costs 2 lowest level crystals each.

Once you get enough warzone commendations, start buying PvP gear on level 65 piece by piece, not a single mod or a single enhancement at a time. Do NOT mix PvE and PvP gear on the same orange shell. If you are NOT augmenting yet, you do not need to pull the mods out, just use the armor, than trade it in for the ranked piece. WHEN you are ready to augment, then use an orange piece into which you can insert the PvP armoring, mod and enhancement.

What exactly do you have on right now? Could you please go piece by piece?

All right! Let's get you dressed to kill!

Citadel Duelist's MK-2 Headgear

+188 Mastery

+302 Endurance

+108 Shield Rating

+110 Defense Rating

Armoring 190

Mod 190

Enhancement 190

good, if you are a tank

Pravaat Shirt

+234 Mastery

+268 Endurance

+92 Power

+108 Alacrity

What's the rating? Keep, if under 192, replace with green 190s if not.

Citadel Force-Lord's MK-2 Gloves

+234 Mastery

+245 Endurance

+108 Accuracy

+46 Power

+72 Critical

Armoring 190

Mod 190

Enhancement 190

Good for a tank, but replace enhancement from Accuracy to crit or alacrity

Outlander Duelist's Belt MK-2

+240 Mastery

+274 Endurance

+83 Defense

Armoring 208

Mod 208

You will need to replace it with green 190s. You are losing expertise big time on this one with the bolster.

Outlander Duelist's Lower Robe MK-5

+229 Mastery

+306 Endurance

+123 Absorption

+157 Defense

Same as previous piece, as I assume it is rated 208. Try finding 178 or 186 on the GTN or crafting it.

Citadel Force-Lord's MK-2 Boots

+234 Mastery

+245 Endurance

+108 Accuracy

+118 Power

Armoring 190

Mod 190

Enhancement 190

Keep, but replace that Accuracy Enhancement with Critical or alacrity

Raider's Cove Force-Lord's Focus

+187 Mastery

+258 Endurance

+79 Accuracy

+98 Power

+1479 Force Power

Armoring 204

Mod 168

Enhancement 168

Is this an expertise based focus with the mix of the Exhumed and the Cyn... whatever armoring? If so, why no expertise listed? If not, replace with 190 greens, no Accuracy

Devoted Allies Polesaber

+241 Mastery

+252 Endurance

+111 Accuracy

+122 Power

+1313 Force Power

That would be 192, so replace with 190, get rid of Accuracy.

Ruusan Relic of Serendipitous Assault

+125 Endurance

+43 Power

Ruusan Relic of Focused Retribution

+125 Endurance

+43 Power

Are you a tank or a DPS? If a tank, use tanking relics. If a DPS - you are golden.

Defiant Force-Healer's Cuffs MK-5

+297 Mastery

+232 Endurance

+61 Power

Armoring 208

Mod 208

Replace with 190s.

Citadel Bulwark Package

+215 Mastery

+348 Endurance

+123 Absorption Rating

+128 Defense

Sky Ridge Force-Lord's MK-X Package

+169 Mastery

+223 Endurance

+91 Accuracy

+113 Power

Sky Ridge Force-Lord's Device

+169 Mastery

+223 Endurance

+113 Power

+91 Critical

Force-lord's the best choice here. Accuracy not good, and if you are a tank I guess absorb/defense do not hurt ya.

So, in a nutshell, stay under 192 if it is PvE pieces, ditch Accuracy, stuck Crit or Alacrity if DPS.

I'm currently playing DPS. So if I'm understanding you correctly, whichever gear has mods in it above 190, remove those mods and replace them with 190 mods? What about the orange set that I have that has no mods in it? I have about 1300 warzone comms. can I use those to get mods, armoring and enhancements for the empty set that I have?
Posted

You've got it.

You actually buy a piece with your wz comms. IF you are not augmenting, just put the piece on. Once you have everything at 204 with Expertise, and more comms, then you can trade each piece of armor AND some comms for a corresponding 208 piece. In other words, Cynosure headpiece + 1000 comm (or so) will be traded for a 208 Exemplar headset.

IF and only IF you have AUGMENTED an orange shell OR want to save the PvP armoring/mod/enhancement, TEN pull them out but SAVE the shell for a later trade-in for an upgrade.

With your 1,300 comms, I suggest you start with Main Hand and Offhand. That, plus everything PvE on 190 rating will give you full expertise (just don't forget the War Hero Crystals).

And, make sure to DITCH Accuracy in favor of crit/alacrity.

Combat Section of the Fleet will have the AC-specific vendors for Warzone gear (204), ranked gear (208), and once you are min-maxing, there are also vendors that sell mods and enhancements separately.
