Hi !

I am a little new with guardian.

After reading some other posts and inspect player, I am totally lost about augments.

For PvP which augments I must take ?

And how you remod your pvp gear ? You put off accuracy for crit ?

Thx for help :)

I'd like to know the answer to this, as well.

I also have a bit of a related question. I rolled a Sentinel to PvP with in KotFE, but I'm finding my ability to pressure healers just isn't there due to the overtuning of heals in 4.0. I'm running Concentration, but am seriously considering trying out a Guardian for the added defense.

So, for Vigilance and Focus players: do you guys feel you can put real pressure on enemy healers? And what do you feel are the relative strengths and weaknesses of the spec?

Thanks in advance!

Hello! Thank you for your questions, I hope my experience can help you guys out a bit. I run focus spec in 4.0, so unfortunately cant really comment much on vigilance. I take 2 power/accuracy enhancements, the rest are power/crit. I leave the mods as they come in the stock Vindicator's pvp gear because I believe they are Best in Slot already (can someone confirm or otherwise?). I take 1 mastery relic and 1 power relic. I take a power/crit earpiece and 2 power/crit implants. Then I take 14 power (overkill) augments.

From what I've heard/seen that is sort of unorthodox. A lot of people are running crit augments up to around 1400 crit rating, then alacrity for the rest. I believe that build parses highest. However, I found it not very good for pvp in focus spec because you don't have 100% time on target like on a dummy and also, while I crit more often, anything that didn't crit hit like a wet noodle. I couldn't stand that. So I tried all power augments, and bingo. All my crits hit hard and everything that didn't crit still hit pretty decent. I am able to pressure healers well, and bring them down if someone else helps.

As far as strengths and weaknesses of the two specs, Vigilance is the sustained damage spec, with a good dot spread for aoe pressure. It is fairly sturdy (tanky), especially if you leap a lot to get the 20% dmg reduction and cc immunity. It also has a easy to learn rotation and flow. Vig's weakness is that it has poor burst compared to other classes, or even focus spec. Focus is the guardian's burst spec, it is great for finishing off foes 50% or below. Focus also has great mobility with a second leap and that new utility giving 50% speed upon using combat focus. Downside for focus is weaker sustained damage (though less so now thanks to the new dispatch utility), vulnerability to cc, and a more challenging, sometimes clunky rotation. At least that's the consensus I believe, but I find it's rotation pleasing.
