A big Stronghold Update

Great Ideas all of them. +1 from me. More options and content. All of this (well over 90%) is already in game so it shouldn't be too ..Difficult to add. I have too many to start my own list on the S.H. and Guild Ship subjects except maybe 1. Maybe some *Sound?? a Jukebox or something to make them feel *Homey and less "Tomb Like".

You mean for Korriban Tomb? Theres already Jukeboxes in game with those lively cantina themes you hear on fleet, some mystery themed music and some action game music. Also theres ambient machines if you need to add that SFX of people talking, thunder storm, etc.

I would love if we could see a big Stronghold update maybe next year or anytime soon, that adds new features as well as some cool new places to build a base or a home at.

Here's some ideas I have in mind, some are the best I could find from other people's suggestions:

NEW FEATURES AND CHANGES:

Z - Axis translation:

Some floating decors, mainly floating/flying pets would be nice if they could get a Vertical translation in order for us to set them higher or lower to the ground.

Display Text Option:

There are some objects across the game that show a small text square when you pass your mouse pointer over them. This texts usually display some lore or some interesting data about that object.

It would be nice if we could toggle an option when manipulating some decorations in order for us to type a text to be displayed that way when someone places the mouse pointer over that decor.

For example you can set that awsome bith musician or that twi'lek dancer holo-sign you got outside your cantina to display "Neon Moon Cantina" (or any name you want for your cantina) when you pass the mouse over it

Medical Droids adjusted to Player Level

The inventory that the medical droid personnel decoration sells; Should be adjusted to fit the user's (the character that interacts with it) level so he can buy items from it he can actually use.

Personnel Emotes:

Let us get an option for personnel decorations that allow us to pick one of our unlocked emotes for our personnel to play as their animation.

Personnel/Companions Toggle Hologram option:

A huge requested thing (mainly for companions) is an option to let us choose if we want to see them phisically or as holograms. We should get a switch under the decoration settings that allow us to toggle between them.

Planetary Decorations Vendor:

It would be awsome if we could have one Planetary Decorations vendor on each planet with a stock full of awsome furniture, personnel and other iconic decorations found around that planet. (Some could be sold for credits and others can be exchanged for Data Crystals.)

For example: The Tatooine Vendor stock could include: Moisture Vaporators and Sand People Pillagers as the Voss vendor could include some Voss trees, a Voss Mystic and a Gormak.

Passive Strongholds:

Instead of having just a limit of 4 strongholds we could convert the other strongholds we have bought into passive strongholds, that would be having them available on our stronghold window so we can still enter them and decorate them yet only your 4 main strongholds will count towards the Conquest bonus.

Legacy Credit Storage:

Add the same credit storage system used the guild bank to store credits on the legacy bank so we can share them with characters across our legacy.

Purchase Decoration Copies:

Allow us for some CC to purchase copies of decorations we have already unlocked before. yet instead of unlocking unlimited copies as with the normal collections system here we got to pay for each copy we want to get. (Just as it is being done with the "Purchase for guild" system using credits.)

Customizable Personnel Names:

Make it so we get a text square on the personnel decoration options so we can give a name to those personnel decorations, This would be an awsome add on to further customize our homes giving a name to that Bartender working at the cantina or to that Guardsman always keeping an eye for intruders or to that loveley Togruta Citizen that came to stay and make Ashara jealous. I'm sure the RP community would also find some really good uses for this feature.

Prestige Score Adjusted to Decorations' Rarity

Adjust the prestige system to fit decorations' rarity, the higher the rarity of your decorations; The higher score they contribute to your prestige value.

More decoration Hooks for Yavin Stronghold's Forgotten Cave

Yavin's cave is an awsome place to decor, can be used as an old temple ruins, some cave to face jedi trials, a tomb for a forgotten sith, some archeological excavation worth exploring. Yet we lack enough hooks to build something awsome in there.

If we can get more hooks added to the cave (Including some hooks on the paths that lead in and out), It would be really useful.

NEW STRONGHOLDS:

Korriban Tomb:

A small stronghold around the size of the Courscant/Dromund Kaas appartments.

Featuring a Sith Tomb excavation on Korriban, maybe behind the Sith Academy or somewhere near the valley of the dark lords. The entrance could be an outdoor area with a small shuttle landing pad that can be used to exit the stronghold, some rubble and maybe some unlockable areas, one that leads to a cavern an other to a cliff.

Then the main tomb, sightly buried on the sand maybe inspired a bit with the design of the tomb of Adjunta Pall, with some unlockable chambers, a balcony and some stairs that go deeper into some catacombs and perhaps a treasure chamber.

Tython Ruins:

A small stronghold around the size of the Courscant/Dromund Kaas appartments.

Tython has a lot of history about the Jedi and a lot of old temples and training grounds used by the Je'daii order, this stronghold could be made as a mirror to the "Korriban Tomb Excavation" I previously described, but this one could be inspired by one of these old temples or Je'daii training grounds.

Rishi Pirate Cove

A stronghold as big as Yavin's stronghold.

Could be standing on an island with a nice pirate themed hideout with multiple rooms, then some tropical enviroment on the outside with some caves, small waterfalls, and maybe a ship wreckage somewhere would be awsome too. The best part could be if we can get an speeder somewhere that take's us to our own Pirate Ship (we could use the Ravager's ship model: http://www.swtorhub.com/sites/swtorhub.com/files/styles/nodeview/public/images/SWTOR-HuttShip-01.jpg) and let us decorate the ship's hull and the inside cabins, a cargo bay, the bridge and maybe an engine room as well.

Manaan Underwater Instalation

I think Manaan can provide some awsome enviroments for a home, maybe for an office or a research lab as well. (I can think of this as a big stronghold since my idea would connect a pair of maps about the size of a DK/Courscant Appartment size); Built as two maps conected by a pannel next to a submersible pod that warps you between maps. The first map could be an area featuring a small hangar bay with a good starship hook so you can land your favorite ship of your collection followed by a small corridor (I'm taking inspiration from Manaan's first area on KOTOR where you arrive and land the Ebon Hawk to then enter Atho city) that corridor could lead you to a courtyard area maybe with an already built big fountain in the middle (those fountains we get to see on Manaan from SWTOR that look like walls with water sliding on them) this place would be nice to set some centerpiece decorations, crossing the courtyard would lead to the entrance of the building, it could be a building with two floors and some intersting rooms at your disposal (Again I think it would be nice to take some inspiration of the rooms we see the Sith Base you enter on Manaan on KOTOR while guessing how this building should look like.)

At the end of the building we would get an unlockable door that leads to a second courtyard with some extra centerpiece hooks or maybe another starship hook strategically placed somewhere there; But mainly this area should feature a submersible pod next to a pannel that (as the tatooine SH elevator works) should tranport your character to an underwater instalation. This instalation should start with an open area where your submersible is landed and could be a nice spot for a couple centerpiece hooks as well. We can then unlock some corridors that lead some rooms we could use for multiple proposes. I was thinking of this stronghold more intended for players to build some sort of research labs or secret military offices, yet I'm sure the areas I describe could fit any kind of home you wish to build here with the right creativity and decorations.

Zakuul Palace

With the Eternal Empire arc coming to an end we should finally be able to have our own Zakuul stronghold.

I can imagine it as the Dragon's maw palace we see on one of the KOTET chapters, a huge tower starting with a landing pad that leads to an entrance hall with stairs on both sides that lead to the upper levels. Then a huge main hall where you can display some big decos on a Starship hook in the middle. Some rooms and hallways should be unlockable from there. As for the second floor, a couple balconies would be awsome to enjoy the view of your main hall, some hallways leading to some medium and small extra rooms would be awsome. We can even get a second landing pad or a big outside space at the end of the second floor.

(Republic/Imperial) Space Station

Around the galaxy we have seen a lot of space stations aside from those we all known well from the Imperial/Republic Fleets. It would be awsome if we could get our own. First of all as for location (bassically for those who are already wondering about the options of the exit menu on this type of stronghold) it should be on your respective faction fleet. Even though the actual location of this home could be bassically anywhere you want on the space; The default exit option should be Exit to (Faction) Fleet so we can keep the SH system mecanics easy.

There should be 2 versions of this stronghold one with Republic themed textures and other for imperials. its size should be around the Nar Shaddaa SH.

And this stronghold should feature some Hangar bays, some rooms suitable for building a cantina or an auditorium of some sort. as well as a mix of some other medium and small rooms conected by some hallways with space to place some signs and furniture. This SH should be a nice way for people to build from a relaxing Smuggler Heaven to that mini Death Star your RP guild always wanted to build.

NEW FLAGSHIPS:

Republic Thranta-Class Corvette

http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/swtor/images/1/15/Brentaal_Star.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140731062112

Imperial Terminus-Class Destroyer

http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/b/b5/Black_Talon.png/revision/latest?cb=20150715205203

These two flagships (being smaller than the Cruiser and the Dreadnaught) should obviously have a sightly reduced space and some small limitations compared to the bigger ships but they should be sold around 15mil - 20mil which will totally help smaller guilds to jump into conquest as well.

DECORATIONS:

Priority Transport Terminal (Republic/Empire)

Those we see on dalily planets and fleet.

Class Trainers:

Class themed Personnel of each class that work as a trainer for characters of that class.

Cantina Vendor

A working Cantina Vendor that sells the usual stuff you find on most cantina vendors across the galaxy.

Dancers of different Species

We got Twi'lek dancers already and they are really nice decorations to have around, yet it would be more awsome if we can get more dancers of different species to have more options to choose from.

Here's a list that would make a good start:

-Togruta Dancer (Male/Female)

-Cathar Dancer (Male/Female)

-Mirialan Dancer (Male/Female)

-Human Dancer (Male/Female)

Training Dummies

This is a highly requested decoration. To get some working dummies we can use to build some sort of gyms or training rooms on our homes/flagships, would be a nice tool for guilds that focus on preparing people for raids or PVP also to just test skills and DPS.

Decorable Structures

There are some awsome huge stuctures and decos that fit on centerpiece and starship hooks out there. Could they get even more awsome?... Dont answer me!... YES they can!! If we get some huge structures that include their own set of decoration hooks so you can further alter them the way you want you might get a chance to add that decorable extra temple shrine you are missing on your Yavin Stronghold where you may be able to place your saber forge or that monster you got on your last OP. Wouldn't it be awsome if that Damaged ATV came with some hooks around where you could place some NPC's scavenging the debris?. Or if you could pose some Rakata Warriors defending the awsome Rakata Ruins?. What about that "Medical Facility" deco? Its a bit usless since you can get inside, how about a future version of it where it is open and you can install you little lab/medical bay inside it.

This idea doesn't require a huge edit to how decorations work. Just add some hooks into those huge structures to further customize how they look like. If the stucture deco gets picked up all decos placed on it should be picked up as well with the same warning window you get if you chance the hook type while there are decos placed in it.

And also decos placed on the customizable structure deco should count to the stronghold decoration limit as if they were placed on any other hook.

Planetary Decoration Vendors:

Add vendors on each planet that sell decorations related to that planet. Pricing may be set to credits and even Scrap Peddler items which would even motivate players to get more packs for the scrap.

More detailed version of this suggestion on this link: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=8520265

Personnel Decoration Packs:

Themed CM Direct Sale packs with personnel to populate anything might want to build on your strongholds.

This suggestion was well accepted by people so I'll be hanging it here as well. You can check the related thread here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=825745

Just thinking if they are gonna expand on strongholds, utility and opportunity.

What if they introduced heroics or (missions much like when you are introduced to space missions).

These missions can be, defend your stronghold, a meeting taking place one is a traitor or captured enemy tries to escape.

Something that would adress strongholds and missions to become more interactive.

Rewards small amount of CXP and decorations.

It might also be nice to add stronghold deco hooks (specifically small floor hooks for NPCs) to our class ships post-SoR. Even if the companions have nothing further to say to you, they still add much needed life to the ship - as it stands, I bet I'm not the only one who uses alternate transport whenever possible.

Good thread!

Didn't see this suggestion for strongholds yet, so: allow for resizing a decoration to fit different hooks,, for example a statue that can fit a centerpiece, but also a large hook. There are decorations that don't take up nearly the space allotted by their hook type.

Yup already suggested that before but due to the way our personnal ships are coded they already said its not possible to add hooks without seriously breaking something up.

I'm pretty excited about the Manaan stronghold. I do hope we get some SH system upgrades to go with it.

Even some hook additions on existing decorations and some bug fixes would be outstanding.

Has there been any word on the suggestion to base conquest bonus on unlocking instead of decorating?

I am very excited about Manaan stronghold even though I dread decorating it. I refuse to make it a junkyard like 4 out of my 5 SHs. Yavin looks somewhat decent but the others look awful which I know is common for people to do.

What I don't understand is why conquest bonus is based on my personal SH? Why not the guild's flagship or SH? I do like the idea of the conquest bonus being based on unlocking instead of decorating.

Does anyone know how many hooks Manaan will have?

That I know!, well not exactly but in this preview you can see all the hooks it will feature, its really nice cuz it will have some centerpiece hooks in the inside as well for those decos that just shouldn't be outside lol.

Added a couple suggestions to the thread:

Repeatable Intro Cinematics

The intro cutscene is not only a video to show you your new home, it keeps changing as you add decorations till it becomes a pleasant presentation to see your hard work decorating your home. So there must be a way to repeat them whenever we want; I know lazy people and those who just feel SH's with random stuff cuz they only care about the conquest boost are the reason we don't have this cuz they just want to get into their homes ASAP, that's why we must get an option to the Preferences Menu that allows to trigger the Intro Cutscene for all your strongholds. That would be the easiest way to solve this yet there's two other solutions I can propose:

1.- On the Stronghold window add a checkbox on every strongholds you own, that when you check it, the intro cutscenes is displayed on that particular stronghold everytime you get in. (This way you can control which strongholds display a cutscene and which ones don't).

2.- On the terminal/button you use to exit the stronghold add a "Watch Stronghold Cinematic" button that lets you start the cutscene whenever you want without the need of going out and back in everytime you want to watch it.

Manaan Stronghold Expansion

Manaan Stronghold is pretty cool as it is a bit dissapointing in terms of space, its got a lot of wasted space that would make some interesting areas to fill with decorations:

The main one why I'm making this suggestion is this courtyard with the submersibles: http://imgur.com/a/MiFpM

Other is the Starship Hook up there in the rooftop you can't get to.

Please add Hooks and inlcude an elevator option to get to the submersible area, if you see the need of adding an unlock cost for this area then remake the main indoor corridor to get you there and make the unlock or make the elevator move you to a small inside room where the door to that area can be unlocked.

As for the starship hook I think a rocket boots jump like the ones we got on the Yavin ruins would be enough to get us up there.

Right now I only want 5 things.

1) Fix current stronghold bugs.

2) Fix current decoration bugs and issues.

3) A way to get to the Nar Shaddaa landing pad without jumping off a taxi.

4) A way to get to the Manaan landing pad.

5) Increased stronghold limit so I can get an Umbara train.

This is the only one I urge now lol

I have several dozen decorations stuck in Manaan small hooks that I can't get out or adjust unless I reset the entire stronghold. Yavin 4 only has 4 "sticky buggy" hooks that I know of, but Manaan has dozens. Bugs like that take priority for me.

Here's The Big List of bugs and issues -- http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=921318

Here's the section you're asking about:

Stronghold Issues

These are problems with stronghold features that impact decorating.

Broken Hooks

* Manaan (Front/Exterior) -- Some categories of decorations cannot be removed from the small hooks in the front walkway, such as Pets. They do not appear in the hook when clicked, so cannot be positioned or removed.

* Yavin 4 (Balcony Doorway) -- Enter the main temple, take the first door on the right, go all the way to the balcony. Turn around to face the stairs. The small wall hooks on either side of the doorway won't accept decorations.

* Yavin 4 (South Outer Temple Doorway) -- Go through the main temple and out across the bridge. Enter the large building on the right (south side). Turn around to face the doorway. The large wall hooks adjacent to the doorway (on the walls of the short hall ending in the doorway) won't release decorations once they are placed in them.

* Yavin 4 (North Outer Temple Pillar) -- To through the main temple and out across the bridge. Enter the large building ont he left (north side). The small wall hook on the face of the first pillar on the left doesn't release items once they are placed. Later, you can place a second item in the same hook.

* Yavin 4 (Sanctuary 2 Top) -- Go to the top. One of the narrow hooks doesn't show, decorations placed there are invisible. See Dulfy video at 15:38 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5Ml...utu.be&t=15m30s).

* Yavin 4 (Sanctuary 2 Walls) -- Right building, 2 large wall hooks on either side of the interior near the entrance are offset and stick out from the walls, making decorations appear to hover in mid-air.

I believe it is time to begin advocating for a stronghold on the planet Copero. As one who roleplays a number of Chiss characters, among many others on the Star Forge server, I speak for the majority when I say that a stronghold on Copero would be perfect. It would also make sense, given the last stronghold was given by inspiration of the last flashpoint taking place on Umbara. This time however, it would be a real treat to have the stronghold on Copero be much larger than something like Coruscant and Dromund Kaas. Something that resembles the actual look of the architecture seen in the Copero Flashpoint.
