Kelorel Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Hi, I'm having some issues getting past the load screen before Character Select. As soon as I click "Play" in the Launcher, it launches but then my resolution (1920x1080) changes to a random resolution (usually 800x600 or 1024x768). Additionally, that's when I can't even get to the Character Select. I've changed it back multiple times with no improvement. I've tried rebooting, reinstalling the game, and even checking for viruses. How do I fix this?

Do you mean by this that you've set the resolution to 1920x1080 in-game after it starts (after it changes to 800x600)? I ask because it sounds as though the in-game settings are set to something your graphics card can't handle and the game is defaulting to a low rez. Next time you are in the game, make sure the graphics settings are set to not only 1920x1080 , but also at a 60Hz refresh rate, etc. (At this moment I can't check what settings are available.) Also, what graphics "card" are you using? Maybe there's some setting in shadows, etc, that your card and/or graphics driver can't handle. Try setting the graphics to "low" to see if thew 1920 then sticks.

I was playing the game, shut it down and walked away fro 20 minutes and then came back and it wasn't working. As soon as I click "Play," the resolution on my desktop changes and I get a notification that says "this isn't the optimal screen resolution." And then It doesn't even get to the Character Select.

Go to folder C:/users/your username/AppData/Local note: the AppData folder is hidden so you need to turn on "show hidden files and folders" first. In the AppData/Local folder find and delete subfolders named SWTOR (could make backup copy of them somewhere first, just in case, but whatever) Start the game again. Your game should now launch as if it was the first time, so without any graphics settings.

And then It doesn't even get to the Character Select. It definitely sounds as though you have an in-game graphics resolution or refresh rate setting that doesn't match you monitors possible settings. You should try what the above poster said, although you may only need to delete (or edit) "client_settings.ini" (under that folder*) to fix it. Once you get back into the game make sure the resolution and refresh rate settings match your monitor's. * C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\SWTOR\swtor\settings\client_settings.ini Edited November 8, 2015 by JediQuaker
