Its been about 2 months since I have been able to play this game at weekends.

I manage an hour or so on weekday evenings, at most.

Then come the lag spikes which disconnect me. Every 10 mins or so

Sometimes, I log back on to find myself disconnected already. This cycle lasts for hours.

Tactical flashpoints, are just that. Tactical. I have to plan my time, just to finish one. Its not fair to the 3 other people that have to carry me, and put up with me D/C'ing every few mins.

I have submitted endless in game tickets, just to receive the generic mail telling me my ticket is closed.

I have spoken to my ISP, but they only confirm my connection is currently stable, with a min speed. Which, to be fair, is what I am paying for.

I have sent more in game tickets, and they have sent me the wrong response back.

I would post tracert/ping plotter/etc etc stuff here, but nobody from BW reads this forum. Its a Telia issue, I know that, but what can I do ?

I would post on the customer service forum, but its read only.

I would post on the new forum, but its just player staff there. Nobody from BW is actually on there.

So....am I the only one ? I really dont want to have to find another game to play, especially if I again have this issue with Telia.

No, you are not alone, I am getting so fed up with lag and dropped connections. My ISP has checked and the feed is OK on my side. I am losing patience and am thinking of quitting all together can't see logic of subbing and not getting to play when I want. :(

Not to be cynical (well... OK, I guess it is a bit cynical :) ), but of course your ISP will tell you that the problem is not in their area of responsibility. But if the problem really was with the game servers - shouldn't everyone using those servers be affected? Or have you already tried playing on another server and verified that it works better there?

I've been playing pretty much around the clock every weekend for the last couple of months, and I have not had any problems at all with lag or lost connections. You mentioned Telia, so I'm guessing you are in Sweden? So am I, though I use Comhem.

Anyway, most likely, your problem is local (home network, equipment, software, ...), or with your ISP (regardless of what they tell you).

There are probably ways to test your connection properly and thereby to collect evidence that the problem is with your ISP (if that is the case), but that is not really my area of expertise.

Your actual internet connection could be perfect, but (and i'm not saying it is this but it should be the first check you do) it could still be an issue with your connection, not at your end and not at the servers end, but somewhere in between.

As you probably know to get from your PC to the server your data passes through multiple servers, most of which are not owned by either your ISP or BioWare, if one of these servers is playing up then it can cause issues with the game. When your ISP checks your connection all it is checking is you connection from your router to their server and not beyond, that is their definition of working.

Now, almost every time someone tries to explain this people pipe up with comments like "but my other mmo's don't have these issues" or "x other people on my ISP don't have issues", the route you take is different to each game and can be different even between people living a couple of miles apart on the same provider, playing the same game.

The first troubleshooting step with issues like this should always be to check your route, you can do this by downloading and installing a program called pingplotter, using this program you can enter the IP address of the server and set it running, it will tell you your ping between server hops on your route and highlight any issues at their source, it also keeps a log over time while it is running so you can have it running in the background and when something happens in game you can refer to the log.

If nothing shows on the log then it's almost certainly not an internet based issue and either at your end or at BioWares end.

People complain that mmo CS staff always "blame" your connection when they suggest doing this, but they're not blaming anything,iIt's a process of elimination and checking your internet route is just the first step, once they can be sure your internet is not the case they can move on to the next step in the investigation.

In the case of the OP it appears to be an issue somewhere in one of the server hops, somebody else on the same ISP has the same issue here http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=851250. All I can suggest is making a note of which IP the bad connection is at and A. Speaking to your provider, giving them all the information and tell them they need to contact the faulty server company and do something, or reroute your connection elsewhere, and B. Give BioWare a call, explain the situation, give them all the information you can and ask them (be polite about it) to work with the offending server company to get things fixed.

I use comhem as well and I've had lag and disconnects when I'm playing SWTOR, but not outside of it.

I do think its something with my hardware somewhere though :)

Saw this when reviewing my list of "subscribed threads" just now, and remembered that I actually did notice some lag the last weekend. A bit of not too severe stuttering two or three times, and one time I lost the connection for perhaps four or five seconds (i.e. not bad enough to for the game to break - I just couldn't move forward for a couple of seconds).

It didn't last, and I was not in any danger at the time, so it was only slightly annoying. And, of course, I didn't follow up on it so I cannot say if it was the servers or something on the long way to them. Perhaps just a game area instance cloning...

Anyway, I'm just saying this since I wrote earlier that I had had no problems at all so far :)

@1, No you are not the only one for sure.

On the Red Eclipse its now very common to have up to 4/5seconds skill lag while your MS stays nicely around 20/27ms~.

Tracert and Pathping's indicate that the connection from Me -> ISP -> Server -> ISP -> Me(25ms max 100% send/received).

and just like you on some nights it gets so bad that i DC every 2/3seconds after loading a char. which continues for hours at a end.

this all happening while TS3, Mumble stay stable with no DC or loss of connection, no ping increase or anything.

yet the lag keeps on going, more in my guild are noticing the same problems.

And it seems to have to do with all the dead bodies not disappearing.

Yesterday in personal phases you could at least escape the lag. Now even in Personal phases and FP's we(me and guildies) are noticing the lag everywhere, it comes in many forms like;

- Skills not activating.

- NPC's teleporting (while already engaged in combat, resetting them 30/40meters back and breaking of combat)

- mounting up taking up to 10seconds after the button is pressed, sometimes taking up to 7 to 8 seconds for the cast bar to even come up.

- Bodies being placed on different location then the time of death indicates.

And everything on this end has been tried (think in the region of: )

- Speedtesters.

- ISP contact.

- Tracert(s).

- PathPing(s).

- DNS Flush.

- Taking out Switches/Hub's in the LAN.

- Replacing Cables to exclude cable breaks/errors.

- Resetting of the router.

- Testing on different machine with different OS.(win 7, 8 and 10).

- Testing on different locations.

- Kicking the side of the machine.

- Jedi mind tricks on the router.

and ofc, sacrificing a goat at the altar of Palpatine, and doing a ritual dance in a hola-hoop skirt whilst chanting in the native language of the GunGan's...

But sadly all it resulted in, seems to be extra rainfall and a cold weather front. And a even laggier game experience.

CS remains silent throughout it all

and the lag is becoming so bad in some phases(planets) now that even cut-scene are become very slow to load, and when it plays it stutters and looks jerky.

hopefully this server restart(on Tuesday) will at least give us a couple good days again, although at the rate of decline in server playability i would think the server will crash due to overload before that already.

Don't usually post on the forums, but felt i should chip in by saying that I'm experiencing the same thing too.

Good ping, but random ability lag - I've only been disconnected a couple of times in the two months I started playing again. Some areas appear to be worse than others. Usually have more trouble with FPs than with planets but tonight Balmorra was almost unplayable.
