Fleurdelis Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Pre 4.0 I had Nadia Grell using the Cathar Warstaff when playing my Sage. After 4.0 I can not equip it on her. Anyone else experiencing this? That was not a cheap weapon to buy for her to use for it not to be useable any longer. I also read all the notes concerning character changes with weapons and Nadia is not mentioned at all.
Suromir Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) well..does she use a single bladed saber now? that will be your answer as the npcs that could use both single, whatever the warblade falls under, and dual sabers (Jaesa, Kira, Nadia, Xalek) now only use saberstaffs. I used to use the warstaff on Xalek, now you can't. He only uses saberstaffs..so I'm sure that's the same with Nadia. Edited November 6, 2015 by Suromir
Oldsailor Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) Nope all use doublebladed lightsabers. (Mine are equipped with their original gear.) Cathar Warstaff is listed as an electrostaff. I think when they "redid" the comps they took out the other optional items they could use. (Probably why Xalek can't use it either.) Funny but my Jedi Sentinels doesn't have have electrostaffs as equipable, but they can use it. Edited November 6, 2015 by Oldsailor
Fleurdelis Posted November 6, 2015 Author Posted November 6, 2015 if that is the case I hope they reclassify the warstaff as it was bought for her and for it not to be able to be used now sucks. How do you forget how to handle a sword, I mean honestly. That's like me after learning to shoot a gun waking up the next morning and only being able to shoot a bow.
GalacticKegger Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) Neither can Kira or Jaesa. Edited November 6, 2015 by GalacticKegger
SithKoriandr Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Agreed! I bought the Cathar Warstaff for my companions, not any of my characters, so it feels like it just became wasted. :/

Corso is a major point of anger, I had the Tommy-Gun looking riffle from the Casino event on him and my sister used the bowcaster, which of course she bought off the CM so that's a waste of real money there. Seriously who really cares about Torchy? Who actually used a baster with him? I have not talked to a single person who did. Edited November 6, 2015 by mudmobile
monkeyrobot Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 why can't he just use both for god sake. there's even a part in the new story where corso talks about switching to a rifle from a pistol..

So the Cathar warstaff can finally be used by Qyzen and Akaavi? I bought it back in the day for Qyzen, just assuming he'd able to use it, to find that only characters that used lightsabers could use it. =/ Great fix for me, not that I care now. But really lame for people that have been using it "as intended".
Knockerz Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) Agreed! I bought the Cathar Warstaff for my companions, not any of my characters, so it feels like it just became wasted. :/ I feel the same way. I bought a few cathar warstaffs for my companions and now I can't use them any of my companions. Why did BW make this useless change? We should demand a cartel coin refund since we can't use the weapons on our main characters or companions. Edited November 6, 2015 by Knockerz
NRieh Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Seriously who really cares about Torchy? I do! But before they had even started screwing up the companions with their skillsets and gear, he used to have both blaster&rifle perks. Which was fine by me. Personally I had always preferred rifles, and most (if not all) of the 'companion weapons' had been rifles as well. My first big '***?!' upon that 'tweak' was that he could not equip his 'Corso Riggs' prototype blaster rifle' any longer. I'm fine with it being an aesthetics (ok, I'm not, I hate that autolevel for the companion thing), but why taking it all away?! That one is beyond me, really. It's not like they need an extra animation or something, they already have it anyway. I think it has something to do with the new 'dummy' companions from KotFE, which have zero customization at all. If I had to guess - all those new characters are not compatible with the normal gear (like different models or something). Remember no-body-texture glitch for Azhara? Something like that, but of a bigger scale. So they had to dumb down everyone in order to make them work.
Darth-Obvious Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 He can't use Torchy either. Yes he can. I have it equipped on him right now.
cyrusramsey Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) What bothers me most is that it's really just a restriction in order to restrict. One of my Corsos actually has a rifle equipped now, one (previously unbound, I might add) that I put on him after the 4.0 update but before this 'fix'. I get a red blinking icon on his portrait like HK-51 used to get when equipped with his lvl50 gear at lower levels, but it all appears to be working just fine, using rifle animations properly and everything. Haruen Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Yes he can. I have it equipped on him right now. Yeah, with today's patch. He couldn't use it before now.

Now that you've mentioned it... what a fool was I to unequip it. I remember the icon, but I thought it was not going to work in any way. I never bothered to test it. Damn! It was same for me - I've resubbed for 4.0 and that change came later.
NRieh Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Yeah, with today's patch. He couldn't use it before now. Not true. I gave him his Torchy on the day they took away the rifles. Which is not today. He could definitely use it during my playing SoR.
clearsighted Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 It also mystifies and annoys me at thsi obnoxious and completely arbitrary restriction. It's just beyond stupid. Corso should be able to use blaster rifles or pistols, as he always has. Our companions should still be able to use electrostaves. I also had my Nadia equipped with a warstaff that she can no longer use, which I found intensely annoying. Really, this all comes down to Eric Musco being obsessed with differentiating companions and classes by restricting weapons, and he doesn't seem to realize that it is more annoying and takes away more value than it adds. (I say this because he was actually asked about it in a recent interview).

Makillda Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Has anyone tried to equip SCORPIO with a techstaff since 4.0? I love the character, hate the rifle.
NRieh Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) this all comes down to Eric Musco being obsessed with differentiating companions and classes by restricting weapons Differentiating?? What ' differentiation' are you talking about? They had already blended & homogenized all the companions the worst they could. No roles, no classes, no difference between range&melee tanking mechanics (because, hey! We all know that man with a rifle jumpuing into the mobs makes perfect sense!) . Removing weapons do not make them any more unique, really. It's just annoying. Edited November 6, 2015 by NRieh
Max_Killjoy Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Bioware borked the companion weapons... they made all companion gear cosmetic and meaningless, they gave them all the ability to slot into all three "roles" of the unholy trinity whether it made sense or not for any particular companion, and stripped away many of their unique abilities. All in the name of making companions "more flexible" and "easier". But for some reason, at the same time, they decided to seriously restrict the weapon choices of many of the companions... That's Bioware for you.
Fleurdelis Posted November 6, 2015 Author Posted November 6, 2015 I would still like a fix for this or my cartel coins refunded.
mudmobile Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Yeah, with today's patch. He couldn't use it before now.Yeah you're a bit off on your update info. It was in 4.0.1 on Oct. 27th that they switched Corso to blaster pistol.
Oldsailor Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Hey all, at least BW has heard you. Found the link to this via EA known issues and current alerts. Like it says, may or may not happen, but at least they are looking into it. http://www.swtor.com/support/helpcenter/7621
NRieh Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Wow! They're listening?! Well, hope springs eternal..
