Wolvereen Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 your outdated DX9/32Bit engine is the cause of many of swtor's issues in my opinion^^ this (former hero)engine just can't handle the load nor the amount of players/networktraffic proper... it's not funny to attack a NPC with 15% health - but wait, i can't attack him! ..why...? - oh, my companion attacked him 3 seconds ago! now the mob stands for another 2 seconds with his 15% health bar and then suddenly he's lying dead on the ground^^ this is just one of many examples of what i see while i play swtor... the whole gameplay isn't fluid - it never was! you should really consider to switch to another - and better - engine i'm pretty sure the community would appreciate this^^
tjmck Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 As has been stated many times in many threads...not...gonna...happen...You can't swap the game engine like changing your oil in your car.
Anaesha Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 As has been stated many times in many threads...not...gonna...happen...You can't swap the game engine like changing your oil in your car. This^

EA/BW just has to invest into a capable team who's doing a full port to another engine. it takes time and money, but i think, it's worth it^^ Edited November 6, 2015 by Wolvereen
Chicktopus Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) ...i agree with you, that this is no simple task^^ but it IS possible! EA/BW just has to invest into a capable team who's doing a full port to another engine. it takes time and money, but i think, it's worth it^^ It's not just 'not a simple task', it's actively impossible without re-writing, re-architecting and re-engineering the majority of the game. It's almost as much, if not *as* much as writing the entire thing again, from scratch. What people don't seem to realise is that in one way or another, most of the code in the game relies on the engine in some manner. What you're asking is akin to swapping the ocean with lemonade and rock with marshmallow -- sure, it'd be more awesome, but it's a helluva lot of work and everything which relies on the old stuff will have to go... which basically everything. Architectrex Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Awesome. Ever played Anarchy Online? It took them years to overhaul the engine for a game+10years old. Why? See the other answers, it's not a case of just flicking a switch.

(D)Oh boy... YOU have no clue what am i talking about^^ my ping and my FPS are fine! this is a server (client/engine) related issue! so stop spamming it's a simple "lag issue" between the player and the server
SlthBounteHuntah Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 I highly doubt this'll happen. Might as well wait for the next Star Wars MMO. I wonder if it'll use the Frostbite engine?
azudelphi Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (D)Oh boy... YOU have no clue what am i talking about^^ my ping and my FPS are fine! this is a server (client/engine) related issue! so stop spamming it's a simple "lag issue" between the player and the server When does the issue primarily occur? If the game just idles, no positional updates or any updates of any kind... that is definitely indicative of a server-client connection issue. I would say it sounds like you have packet loss. There are known issues with server performance causing ability lag as well during high traffic times. Could be a combination of both. But neither of those are a "fix the engine" issue. It is a matter of helping the servers when they are under heavier load and checking your connection for packet loss. For more information, check out posts by Malastare; that guy seems to be on point when understanding the technical aspects of stuff. I don't in any way pretend to be an expert.
