Nikkala Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 After the 4.0 changes, I have heard that crit is better than it was (since it includes surge now), but I don't know if it matches up to mastery or power. For example, I don't know if a +41 critical lightsaber crystal is better than a +41 power lightsaber crystal, for DPS. I know many of you have done calculations on this--would you mind sharing your results? Thanks.
hadoken Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Power is still better than mastery when you can choose between the two (values equal or power is higher). Crit is probably dependent upon your total crit rate (i.e. do you need more or not).
DimmuJanKaarl Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Min-maxing has been greatly simplified with 4.0 for dps. You really only need to focus on stacking crit. Mastery and power will stack for you as they are already on all the modification pieces you'll be using. As for augments I'm going half mastery half crit. Focus on having zero accuracy stacked (assuming you're over 100%) and zero alacrity with all enhancement modification pieces being crit.
DataBeaver Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 (edited) Actually, a small amount of alacrity is beneficial for overall DPS. I think it was around 2-3%, so one or two enhancements. Also, based on testing with the training dummy on my ship, the optimal point for accuracy is now 110%. Apparently enemies have acquired a bit of defense which has to be countered by above 100% accuracy. Edited November 5, 2015 by DataBeaver
azudelphi Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 (edited) Depends on your class and stat budget based on item level, but generally: - All the Mastery you want will come from Armorings, Hilts, Barrels, and the base stats on non-slotted items - All the Power you want will come from Mods and as the secondary stat on the enhancements you are seeking For a Commando DPS, ideal dps comes at around 1140 Crit Rating, 800 Alacrity, and 681 Accuracy (this should be the same for most classes). Will edit to the source of the ideal numbers: Source Edited November 5, 2015 by azudelphi
Nikkala Posted November 6, 2015 Author Posted November 6, 2015 Thank you so much for the great responses--they were very helpful. I love this community!
Falensawino Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) Someone on reddit reorganized Goblin_Lackey's "Optimal Stats For All 24 Disciplines, KOTFE Edition " guide into an easy to read table in a google docs spreadsheet. That spreadsheet has a tab for DPS, Heal and Tank stats. notes: The guide counts Earpieces and Implants as enhancements."APM is calculated as the sum of ability activations divided by their usage rate. This only counts rotational critical abilities and not defensive cooldowns or fluff abilties." Focus on having zero accuracy stacked (assuming you're over 100%) and zero alacrity with all enhancement modification pieces being crit. Mastery augs are relatively worthless, as are power (overkill) augs now. Because of the formula changes in 4.0, crit needs to be around 11-1200, alacrity at around 7-800, which makes arranging enhancements & augs pretty cut & dried because you'll have just the right amount of space for these numbers once in 216 Opt or 220 gear. Mods no longer contain tertiary stats, so it's all in enhancements, earpieces, implants and augs,, leaving you with ten pieces of gear that allow +/- 1520 tertiary stat space (for 216 Opt gear), and 14 augs that allow you 1022. You need 684 accuracy to reach 110%, that leaves you with 1858 in 216 gear with 152 space for each. I've parsed dozens of hours since early release, the only question left for me is what the DR is for crit & alacrity, and from what I can see, the mix of 1200 crit / 800 alacrity appears to be that fine line. I also found using 4 accuracy enhancements will fall just shy of 110% accuracy, but the tradeoff using a single accuracy aug, vs crit or alacrity makes it not worthwhile to need the extra accuracy aug if you're already above 109.5%. The above numbers are also subjective to your own utility bonuses, datacrons and companion influences.
