Using the chart found here (Companion Gift Likes Table 4.0 (Easy Flow)) it's clear a number of companions are much more difficult to gain affection with than most others.

In particular: Qyzen (Cons), Kira Carson (Knight), Doc (Knight), Risha (Smug), Elara Dorne (Troop), Ashara Zavros (Inq), Malavai Quinn (War) and Light Jaesa (War). [Lucky for BH and IA]

All being locked in to romancing in order to get the max tier affection gains with the exception of Qyzen :tran_tongue:, Light Jaesa and Quinn who are stuck in mid tier affection gains regardless.

Now this isn't news to most players, but with some of the changes brought in with 4.0 I've taken a bit more interest in affection gains for my followers. A number of my characters are female, and even for the males I'm not particularly keen on romances so I find my self in a bit of a rough spot for a number of the companions I'd like to gain affection with.

I can't be the only one who thinks the system could use some reworking right? Maybe just allowing some max tier affection gains with the mentioned companions? Seeing as how it's been like this since the beginning, is there some logical reason as to why it should stay the way it is that I'm missing?

With Qyzen there is the option to run the Esseles... at least as a Republic character (even though I have not tried that yet with anyone who got him while not being a consular oneself, would like if other republic characters can do that to with him).

Does it give a considerable amount of influence? I imagine it's not much more than what he receives from mid-tier gifts.

Ashara Zavros is the only one that's really terrible to earn affection with.

The Imperial companions are a bit more uneven in how easy to gain influence is at the extremes.

Ashara doesn't like anything unless you're dating her, but Blizz gets pretty close to unconditional love for the player giving the gift no matter what the gift is.

It doesn't quite even out in terms of time and resources spent, but there is some "balance" in the distribution of companion influence tedium.

It's several thousand per run. You'll gain multiple influence levels if you run it as a newbie consular.

I agree that before 4.0, gaining up to maximum affection, the fact that several companions did not have a "favorite" gift was a small bother. But now with influence going as high as 250K, it has become a real pain. I think because they have changed all companions to be little more than "cookie cutter" in abilities (tank/dps/healer) selecting a companion has more to do with what companion you like the looks of.

With all the other changes they made, I would think that adding a "favorite" gift for the nine companions that don't have them (excluding romance options) would be a easy fix.

If this isn't fixed, you will see a lot less of these nine companions, since getting them up to maximum influence really isn't worth the time/cost.
