RowanThursday Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 What on earth is the sense in having as the default mode on starting the expansion "Remove all skills and hide them"? As an *option*, maybe, but as the default that turns on without any sort of explanation as to *why* something apparently utterly pointless has been done, that's just off-puttingly ridiculous. Ended up resetting skill points about three times, trying to kick something into resetting itself- and very nearly exited the area, which I've no idea *what* damage that would have been done, trying to do that at that point, given the number of issues with illogical bugs with trying to rejoin story areas, in Fallen Empire. Fortunately, my partner looked up how to undo the effect, before I did that, but, still, if you're trying to "sell" the expansion, then having a bug train wreck pop up before it even properly begins... is not a good plan. Please take the tutorial off until you can implement it so it either only pops for the 'brand new' 60s, or else only gives a "A tutorial is available if you want it" pop up.
DataBeaver Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Huh? I've never had anything like that. There's a prompt for a new player tutorial when I start the KotFE storyline, but I've always declined that.

Maybe if you had read the tutorial, you wouldn't have had all of those problems that your friend help fix for you... I don't see what is so darned difficult about unchecking a box to turn off the tutorial when it first pops up? Well, if you find it hard to do that, then I recommend you read the tutorial on that...
Stoofa Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 It's not the "default" option. You are given two choices and asked to click either the tick or the cross. If you didn't bother to read any of the information on the screen and blindly clicked the tick - you were put into tutorial which can be exited straight away. If you bothered to read the on-screen message, a click of the X and all was left alone. Is it really so difficult to read? Are you "that" used to being spoonfed absolutely everything?
PavSalco Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 (edited) I would say not something but someone is idiotic here. And it's certainly not the tutorial that can be declined by just clicking X. Edited November 5, 2015 by PavSalco
NRieh Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 It's not really 'default', but it's...confusing (to put it mildly). As a resubbed preferred player (had been away for a while), I thought that it's going to be about explaining new UI stuff& features. I was not expecting my skillbars to go empty for that. I thought that's some part of the expansion and how it should be. Can't say it was a pleasant thought. Luckily, a friend of mine had been online and explained that my skills are safe, and that I can turn the bloody thing off.
iankalo Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Just press "ESC" and turn it off. Is it so hard? The option to turn it off is on top in the menu when you hit ESC.
rafter Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 People like the Op are why the tutorial exists in the first place. There is box that pops up on the screen that asks yes or no if you want to use it, and if you are too blind to see that you can just hit escape and click the first option called "Disable Tutorial". Seriously if you can't figure out that you should probably just quit while you are behind.
Samious Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Someone who is not me was also very confused Just hit ESC and the first line of the list that appears disables this abomination ) Teh admin could just make a constraint for this to be true only for a freshly created account with player number 0.
CrazyCT Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 (edited) ("Holy Necro, Batman" aside) Hmmm, a tutorial that tells you how to play the game, that you want hidden by default, so the new players don't even know it's there? Is it really so much effort to click a box or, if you managed to fail at that, hit ESC? It'd be like hiding all the dictionaries in a bookstore, cause someone, somewhere, already knows all the words, and doesn't want to have to see them lying around. Edited July 2, 2017 by CrazyCT
Severith Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Yo dawg, I heard you like tutorials. So I put a tutorial about the clickbox next to the clickbox for disabling tutorials.
