Star fortress followers

I've only been through 1 of the new star fortress flashpoints on one of my chars <alderaan> but on my runthru <solo mode> I didn't see any opportunity to gain followers - how are these gained?

You should have alliance alerts to visit resistance members on several planets. Each will have a quest chain which requires you to turn in 5 crates of alliance goods so you can destroy the shield bunker for the Star Fortress orbiting their planet so you can then destroy the Star Fortress itself (which is done on heroic). I can't remember if they join you after destroying the bunker or the Star Fortress, though, so maybe someone can assist me there . Edited November 4, 2015 by Lesaberisa

So you should pick up the quest, go to the planet, and Then come back and do the flashpoint?

Do the solo mode. After doing the solo mode you should have alerts that take you to the different planets. On each planet help the character, one you have helped the character in your mission log under "The Star Fortress" it has the Heroic 2+ mission for that specific planet. Do the heroic, go talk to the character and then you'll get the character as a follower.

 

Rinse and repeat for all other planets.
