OrKonkel Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Is there any point in doing space missions these days? I sort of assumed Starfighter battles would've replaced much of the space missions, but I noticed you get fleet commendations and also some faction points for doing the daily quests. I sort of postponed Starfighter for now because I have no clue how it works and I bet I'll be massively disadvantaged joining the fray at this point, but at least Space Missions are helping me level up. Just not sure if I should keep farming fleet commendations and paying to upgrade my ship, or just leave it as it is for now. Thanks.
DocDAM Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 You don't need to. If you enjoy them, by all means continue to do them! And you still get XP and some credits. The fleet comms are mostly just to buy ship upgrades (which applies only to the space missions, not GSF). Is the gear still purchasable as well? (will check when I'm on fleet0> I enjoyed them, but I'm burnt out on them now. Be warned, the Heroics were very difficult. But I enjoyed the challenge ... when I wasn't about to throw my keyboard through my monitor.
Icestar Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Is there any point in doing space missions these days? I never do the rail spacemissions, I did a few and got tired of them very quick. They are also very hard to do at higher levels for some reason. If you got time to spare then do them but they do not give good experience or anything useful in my view.
Mithros Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Gee, I don't know... Maybe because you enjoy them?
Emersyn Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I've done two I think - I got bored easily. They can be fun for some people, just not myself. I would do them if you find them fun - otherwise go do something more funner
ForceWelder Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 (edited) With 4.0, PVE space missions can be a viable way to gain levels ... not that it is hard to gain levels. Even above level 60. And you don't have to do the extremely difficult heroic ones either. You can do the very first entry level PVE mission and gain about as much XP as any other quest in the game. It only requires you to do a handful of them to go from 60 to 61. As for the PVP space missions, I haven't done one in ages. When I get the urge and queue them up on POT5, they never seem to pop. As to why you should do them? The only reason outside of another way to level is to gain comms for the ship equipment. I think once this year, the max level ship equipment found its way into CM packs but that was short lived and back in January I think. I don't believe they have returned since. So the only other way to get that equipment is to craft the pieces that can be crafted or buy the remaining pieces from the fleet vendor. Getting the max level ship equipment is about the only way the average player even has a chance at clearing the heroic PVE space missions. They are beyond brutal in any below level 50 equipment. But it should also be said that those missions can be completely avoided and not impact someone gaming. Edited November 4, 2015 by ForceWelder
XiamaraSimi Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 (edited) Right now rails space missions are kinda borked because the game keeps unequipping your Power Conversion Module every time you zone... No good zoning into a space mission when parts of your ship are sitting in the cargo hold instead of equipped on the ship where you need them... Edited November 4, 2015 by XiamaraSimi
